That's about where I am, as well. I have to laugh at myself for flip-flopping. I just find myself really wanting to go with the xbox one. I'm still going to wait for spring so I can survey the landscape post launch, but as of now, I'm leaning toward MS. I reserve the right to change my mind, again.

      Re: Xbox One

By the time launch rolls out, much of the DRM stuff and silly chatter about Kinect watching you every minute will be gone and these systems will then have to rely on two things. Reputation and must have games.

For the online console gamer, Xbox Live has been a very thriving and consistent presence. So, when they say they are housing more servers and are committed to enhancing their service, you trust it.

The launch titles for the Xbox One aren't very strong, but what comes next Spring with Titanfall could really boost the desire for the One. I really think that game is going to be a big presence, and for now it is exclusive to the PC and One.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Ordered both from Amazon the minute they were announced and last night I noticed an ad for Launch day system from Microsoft on Xbox live so I ordered another one. Gonna give one to my son and keep the other. PS4 will be sold on Ebay

What about the Show on the PS4? Im going PS4 at launch, but see myself having both the XB1 and a PS4 in the future. The Show alone is what made my decision for a PS4 a no brainer. May ask the wife for an XB1 on father's day next year.

The very thing that has you somewhat interested and the money they poured into it would seem to indicate that the system is still going to be about games.
The problem is Microsoft did a piss poor job of explaining how the cloud will benefit gaming. That's why I'm intrigued but not sold. I think the Xbox One has the higher potential between the PS4 and the Xbox One but they need to explain why it's going to be a great gaming device. So far everything has been about the entertainment side which is nice but at this point I don't care about those things as much.

As it stands now, I plan on getting a PS4 at launch and buying an Xbox One a year or two later. Really the ball is in Microsoft's court though. If they say the right things, I could very well cancel my PS4 pre-order and go with the Xbox One. They need to do a better job of communicating the gaming side of the Xbox One. We know it will be awesome when it comes to entertainment apps. How will it compare when it comes to gaming?

            I'm still on the fence.

Am I crazy in not being that hooked on the PS4. Just seems like a upgraded PS3, nothing really new/different IMO.

Xbox One is adding other stuff, drastically improving Kinect, etc.

I don't know, just seems like Xbox makes me want it more, whereas PS4 seems to just be status quo. Maybe I'm just crazy.

imo both PS4 and XB1 are just more of the same, the biggest improvement seems to be the tech specs... but nothing they have presented thus far has made me say "Oh WOW, that is such a cool thing for a console to have I need one of these."

I think you are crazy and are overthinking this. ;-) Its simple:

If you like the Xbox exclusives, the new kinect stuff, the TV stufff.....buy the one

If you like the PS exclusives and the Vita stuff....buy the ps4.

I'm going to buy both eventually but I'm getting a ps4 for the following reasons:

                1) I love the Show and its only on the PS4.
                2) I could give a **** about Kinect. I've had it for the 360 since launch and its a complete waste for me. Only use it when my nieces and nephews come over.
                3) Not sure the TV stuff will be as easy and user friendly as MS is touting. Still interested though.

                The biggest reason though is:

                4) Its looking like the PS4 will have the bigger install base and the large majority of my friends are getting a ps4 at launch. That affects the number of people who will be online. It also affects OSers as thinks like rosters are more likely to be created for the console that has more users. I remember at the last launch, it was tough for PS3 fans to find rosters because most people here had a 360.

You are 100% right, I am over-thinking this lol.

Everything you list is what I'm weighing...I just actually like Kinect and TV features more (where you don't care, understandably so).

I'm waiting for more info though too...I'll figure it out eventually lol

I remember the days when it was the "upgraded tech specs" that got us all excited for newer consoles. It still does for me.

People just want too much lately. Can we just get back to the roots of awesome gaming? All the rest is just a distraction, IMO.

I'm excited by specs too, but the additional stuff is what will help me choose...both are close enough in specs to not matter IMO (again, IMO, I know PS4 has better memory).

so your opinion is that we should not be asking for more ?
and what exactly are the roots of awesome gaming?

What do you mean by more?

More as in all this added motion control gimmicks?

                          More by social Facebook integration?

More by TV switching, nothing to do with games?

I like playing new game franchises and sequels to great IP's, especially when they get better and better graphically, physics, and AI.

I don't get by "more" out of a console people are clamor in for?

That is what I am asking.

Specs wise are much more of a performance gap than people realize. Especially with RAM usage.

But I get what you are saying. I think it ultimately comes down to IP's at this point if since non gaming features are not a deciding factor.

I get your point, but yes, that's what I'm looking for. Both systems will have new IP's, the same 3rd party games, better graphics and whatnot. I look to what's different between the two to help me decide.

IMO it's a wash games/specs wise (except for IP, I'm waiting for more exclusive game announcements and details to make that decision).

For me its not. I felt like I missed out on a bunch of PS3 exclusives compared to two MS exclusives I actually followed (Forza and ME - which ended up on PS anyway). To me, Sony's gaming library seems a lot more varied as the only shooter I play anymore is Battlefield.
