So it could end up being Nov 12th instead of Nov 5th. I'd be good with either.

Or later still, they can't just distribute this stuff on a whim, have to pick a date and go at some point. The earlier in November more likely they're the game people pick up while in line to get their launch console.

Yup....I had Madden 2001 at least a week to 2 weeks before the PS2 was released.

Also had Madden 06 and NBA 2k6 a week before the 360 was released.

Yea I know it is marketing and all. But I really don't understand why both companies just don't come right out and give the release date and be done with that part. I don't see the big deal of keeping a date secret for. It is driving me nuts. I'm just trying to figure out why they want to do this to us. I hate waiting.

Who ever announces their release date first gives the other the chance to release before them. Both sides are trying to wait it out as much as possible hoping the other tips its hand. This is why I think Sony is releasing in November also as they already had the opportunity to just say we are launching in October before Xbox One.

Same here; I bought some accessories I think and NBA 2K6, Madden 06 and some other game in preparation for lunch a week or so before.

Arent you still "waiting" after they announce the release date? The only reason I can understand the rush to get the date is if you have to give your job 3 mos notice to take launch day off.

If its a money thing, you already know its going to be late October - Early December so you can plan that out now. With that said, we will know the date by the end of the month. Gamescom is when both companies will probably announce.

Only problem I have with them waiting is that I'm in college, half-way across the US from my home. Ill be home over Thanksgiving the 23rd-30th and wont be back for Christmas until the 15th or so. So I need to know which Best Buy I should put for my In-Store pick up.

I think that news is why Sony has waited to detail where their offerings fall in/outside of their subscription service - opportunity to piggyback and mitigate negativity or one-up and offer stuff for free.

I can see them doing the recording stuff for free though and just charging separate fees for a number of their other services (BC streaming, music, etc)
