I wonder if Microsoft is aware of the "wife issue" in this regards, LOL.... Us guys will put up with bugs for tech but the wives usually won't....

I really don't get it either because the Genie is the most recent equipment and DirecTV is the official partner of Microsoft. You'd think if anything would work perfect it'd be the equipment we are using...
I hear ya Odogg. Hey, do you keep your XBone in power saving mode or "instant on" mode and does that seem to make a difference?

I forget what it's on now (it's on whatever it defaults to) but I know I've tried it both ways and it didn't seem to make any difference what I picked....although I could swear studbucket said one was more reliable than the other...

We're definitely aware of the "Wife Approval Factor" issues and have a few fixes and other things coming that should help with that.

The low power mode (takes longer to turn on) should be more reliable than instant on. When you do the hard reboot by pressing+holding the power button, it should basically be the same thing as going to low power mode. So if you still have the issue with low power mode, and need to reboot, that's kinda weird.

We actually don't have any official TV relationships with any providers yet, and it's a long process to get them. Some are happy to work with us, others won't talk with us, but we have had to do most testing by renting a ton of devices and having them in the office, or traveling to official test centers around the US and Europe. HDMI is interesting, and not every device that passes HDMI certification really does things 100% correctly, even the Xbox One. So every device is different, whether it's new or old.

Is one of the "fixes" to have the option of defaulting to live TV when powering on? If so that would allow me to hook mine up to my DVR without complaints from the wife.

It's best that I don't commit or comment on the timeline of features until we've announced things. However, we're aware of this request.

Though they are coming out of the woodwork out here, now that they finally have a sports team that has tasted a little success (not counting the Sounders).

So I glanced over the forum but didn't see it so I figured to post here. Sorry if its a repeat. Does anyone have problems with a dimly lit screen? I'll turn my xbox on and i can barely see anything. If I turn it off it fixes the problem but its rather annoying to have to do this every couple of times. Also, had an issue where my controllers didnt work. Had to unplug system completely and replug in to get to work.

                          Question on auto downloads/updates:

I logged into Live on my phone and purchased Killer Instinct. Later I went and turned on my Xbox One through voice commands ("Xbox On"). Killer Instinct wasn't downloaded, I had to go to it and select Install.

Should it have known to download automatically? Or does the system have to be in some other state? I thought my "Instant On" with voice commands was enough but I may have been confused. Just want to clarify that so I understand.

I had the same issues with updates. Not sure what the problem is with mine. I left mine in standby mode but no updates ever downloaded. As soon as I unchecked download updates automatically and went into a game I got prompted for the update.

Nice to see another Arizonan on here. I am out in Surprise.

Nice! I used to live in Glendale, but we're now East Valley people in Gilbert.

I'll try unchecking and rechecking that box...haven't really had tinker time lately, but just remembered I had that question.
