Re: Xbox 720
EA would be cheating themselves out of a bunch of sales.
I think it's really unlikely that this deal, if it's even true, would mean no EA games on the PS3. You would also have to consider the games they they publish.
That's a lot of money on the table and I find it really unlikely.
Let the meltdown beginComment

Would be interesting if EA was the one kicking off the anti-used games generation, and saying they'll come to PS4 when Sony adopts it too.
Love them or hate them EA going exclusive entirely to one console would be huge, but certainly isn't what this news is saying.

I agree, but at the same time both have consoles have sold 0 units.

Was EA the first to provide a service where people could download their titles a few days early ? I remember some guys in the NCAA forum who had the game early by downloading it.Comment

That would be interesting. I hate all of the unknowns and speculation we're left with around this time.

However, if the move is Sony/Used Games vs Microsoft/EA/No Used Games...I would probably go Sony's way.
I think the ability to purchase used games whether at a Gamestop or through a private party is huge. It's definitely something to keep an eye on.
I would say this exclusive deal might have more to do with extras in games.Comment

Feasible.

In the end I'd probably have to go MS and just get other games after a good price drop (like I do on PC)
Love all the speculations etc....

Re: Xbox 720
Don't think EA is leading the charge on getting rid of used games. They want to, but they know it benefits them. an EA exec said as much this month:
"It's one of these classic double-edged swords. In one way the used game business has been critical for the health of the retail channel, and having a healthy retail channel is an important thing for us. The business will probably never be 100 percent digital. Bandwidths are a constraint, and will continue to be a constraint for many years to come, which hold back the ability to do full digital downloads of some games."
I think this is just like what Activision has with PS4 for exclusive content like they do for Destiny. BF4 has already been seen on the PS4. Though it would be funny if Mass Effect went back to Microsoft.
It's funny though, EA was usually doing timed exclusive stuff for Sony, while Activision did stuff for Microsoft this gen. Now they switch sides for whatever reason.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
I highly doubt this would happen, BUUTTTT knowing how EA is and then throw MS in the mix. I would not put it past either of them to sign a deal like this. EA knows they want the used game market done with, MS knows having EA only on their system would be a huge draw for them.
If this really pans out this way by some millionth of a chance. Sony/used games vs MS/EA/no used games. I think it would be a very interesting battle.
Now with that said, I would go 720 just because I am getting a console at all for two reasons. To play games with my buddies & to play football games. Now I would HATE the removal of used games, I would just buy way less games on my console and much more for PC. I would purchase like 3 games a year on 720 if this went through (Halo, NCAA, Battlefield 4)Comment

Re: Xbox 720
Since we are going down the road of speculation, what would this mean for Madden and its exclusive ties to the NFL? Would the NFL approve or is it in contract that their game has to spread across multiple platforms?
For EA, if MS put out big time funds for this rumored exclusive, that may be a plus for EA; however, wouldn't that mean less sales for the NFL and how would that fly for them?Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
I would see it as being specific to games, not all of their games. I just can't see Madden being on one system. There is just too much money in that for EA. Maybe we'll see games like Dead Space etc. being exclusive to MS.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment
