That's the great irony about it is if you really want to have a hacked/modded console this stuff won't stop you. I guarantee that on launch day evening there will be people online posting how they hacked their (fill in console here)..

All this stupidity does is just cause regular folks headaches..

I imagine once people get their hands on the console and find out more about this once a day thing they'll be a way to put your console into "clear skynet checks mode" for the daily update and you proceed on after that. But it would be a hassle.

Sony has a plan for backwards comparability by offering them up via the Cloud. Microsoft is 'cloud based'. Where's their cloud plan with the 300,000 servers they'll be running (up from 15,000).
Keep your PS3. I couldn't care less about BC and the extra expense it would incur if they included it in the hardware.

          My thing with this is:

The PS3 was a pain in the *** to mod, especially for the developers of the modded firmware. There's a reason that you have to have an older PS3 (one capable of running 3.55 firmware) to even start modding it.

They are now switching to a more PC-like architecture, while nice for the developers, should be heaven for the hacking scene.

They have to realize making sweeping changes like this to stop hacking is the most ridiculous thing they can do. You dont stop hackers. It just wont ever happen.

But hey, maybe it will work out for them in the long run. Who knows. Im leaning PS4 until a report comes out stating they are up to the same things.

I'll be keeping both my PS3s and my 360s (and the 4 paperweights / ruined systems I have now). You obviously didn't invest in many arcade games. Quite a few I'm sure they'll be selling again, which if they do, and they try to charge us for them a second time, is pure garbage. The 360 games don't bother me so much as the arcade games and the digital (on demand) games I've paid for, which are quite a few (easily thousand + worth). Wonder if our video content will transfer. Guessing it will.

The second part makes the first part ok on PC. I mean how much could I really get for Dark Souls when I only paid $7.50 to begin with? (Not a comment on the game as I've yet to actually play it.) Even RE: Revelations is 25% off today. Though come to think of it greenman DOES allow trade-ins if the game doesn't use steam.

However I wouldn't expect that type of market to come to consoles. It seems games will still be sold on disc at retail and not entirely digital. Even then if it follows the current path you'll have to be paying for sales with PSN +/XBL Gold.

                  Re: Xbox One

I haven't read through most of this thread, but reading other forums and just listening to online gamers talk about the conference and the system, the trend seems to be pretty negative.

Let me start by saying this conference wasn't for the ideal hard core gamer. I was at work when they priemered the show on Spike so I went into the break room and asked to change the channel.

There were about 5 people in the room, a 20 year old male teenager, two 25 year old females (who aren't gamers) and a 35+ year old lady with kids. And they were all blown away by the tv functions. I know it's not a gamers ideal, but everyone in the room was just in awe at how cool it was.

One of the 25 year old female employee mentioned how she's not into gaming really but has played games like mario kart and she really liked the whole xbox being the hub of all things.

Everyone in the room was in awe at Forza and Call of Duty. And for most gamers, they were nice but nothing impressive, yet their "Target" audience was in awe.

The system itself in my opinion seems very cool and I would love to just have one unit controlling everything and being able to change inputs at will. Games wise, nothing breathe taking, yes it is a video game system first and foremost, but i would wait until E3 before throwing it under the bus

No one is saying your Arcade content will go away, and no one is suggesting that you have to sell your 360.

I dont see an issue. Keep your 360 and you can play all your $1000s of dollars of content that your heart desires. No one is taking anything away.

Just pointing out that it works on PC....Plus it sounds like MS has something in store for trading in games that they didn't detail yet.

I've gotta think that they'd start adding sales on consoles more over time, if they get more money for those sales by removing the primary used game market.

Rare has a game to be shown at E3. A "historic" franchise.

Possibilities: Conker, Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct, Banjo-Kazooie, Kameo, Viva Piñata.

My question is, does it use a controller in conjunction with Kinect since that's what Rare has been up to lately.

I'd guess Conker, Perfect Dark, or Banjo-Kazooie....I don't think KI, Kameo, or VP were popular enough to be "WOW" games at a console release.
