If MS is happy just lopping off a couple segments of their current market then I guess smart move?

      Re: Xbox One

I wouldnt have an issue with all digital if it weren't 100% dependent on whether I had access to the internet or not.

The switching between games stored on the console idea is fantastic. Allowing people to download full games through Live on release day is brilliant. But monitoring every single thing the boxes do; turning them into coffee tables when internet is unavailable is unacceptable on every level.

You have seen the news lately right? The feds have forced companies to give them almost real-time access ... you think MS will put in place restrictions that won't allow their cameras and data to be sent off your box? Nope because they already said it can be sent off the box to the internet in card games where you can bluff.

This is a wise qoute that we should all bear in mind. Particularly when its being perpetrated in this very thread...

Connecting every 24 hours does not bother me at all, however I think it's crappy for people that do not have stable Internet or the Internet at all. As for used games, I don't buy them and if they have digital downloads then I won't clutter my house with games and therefore will not have to trade in my old games. I love it. I'm ready for the next generation.
This is exactly why I'm still interested in the Xbox one even though Im going for the PS4. Internet and used games are a non issue for me. It's the other stuff with the kinect that i'm worried about. All will depend on price though, I'll go with whatever is cheaper system.

And the fact MSFT is on top of the list of the 9 companies that have been giving the NSA information.

We said this would happen months ago when the rumor dropped. I also said this was the case when you can no longer "remove batteries" on smartphones or portable consoles with front facing cameras and microphones.

And people told us to remove the tin foil hat. Oh the bitter irony.

This is just the nail in the coffin.

NO, not unless you're signed in as them. Otherwise you will have to buy that game yourself. Even if your friend leaves the disc with you, you can't play it unless you buy it.
The clearest stance on this comes from Eurogamer's interview with Harrison: "I can come to your house and I can put the disc into your machine and I can sign in as me and we can play the game. The bits are on your hard drive. At the end of the play session, when I take my disc home - or even if I leave it with you - if you want to continue to play that game [on your profile] then you have to pay for it. The bits are already on your hard drive, so it's just a question of going to our [online] store and buying the game, and then it's instantly available to play. The bits that are on the disc, I can give to anybody else, but if we both want to play it at the same time, we both have to own it. That's no different to how discs operate today."

Can I lend my games to my friends or family?
YES AND NO. On the one hand, Xbox One's licensing only supports "giving" your games to a friend - so you can transfer the rights for a game to a pal, but then you don't own it any more and can't play it. They also can't give it back, or transfer it on to anyone else; each game can only be transferred once. Also, you have to have been Xbox Live friends for at least 30 days to be able to pass a game on to someone.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that when I complete a game, I lend it to a family member to enjoy.

I'll be watching the MSFT presentations at E3 but only out of sheer curiosity.

But, it's a wrap. Can't say I've seen too often a company (outside of Apple's iOS infrastructure) just having a complete vice grip on flexibility all for the sake of a dollar.

The Xbox One might as well come with an instruction manual on everything you cannot do with the system.

That's the old info from the 22nd though. The way it's currently stated as of that post from Xbox themselves, you'll still be able to lend it to 10 family members. Though how those "family members" are decided is what we are waiting for.

I can't believe how much the Xbox one has disappointed me so far. Just flat out money hungry and its just ridiculous.

I was gonna buy day one but now I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pass unless PS4 steps up

It can't be those 30+ day friends, because from what a lot of people have been saying, if you lend the game to someone, it's than locked on their system and no one else can use it.
