My problem is that its an unnecessary restriction that offers no benefits. So while I can't imagine it coming into play much for me, it shouldn't come into play at all. After Hurricane Sandy I lost internet for a week but still had power, so while I couldn't go online or watch TV at least I could catch up on some gaming. I would have been livid if I didn't have that option for no reason.

If that was my only issue with the console I'm sure I could look past it, but theres the other issues that have been mentioned, and its $100 more expensive.

The X1 is designed as a living room entertainment hub piece. There are going to be instances (military) where it won't work, but i don't believe they are Microsofts target audience. The family at home is. I understand your frustration if you're a part of the audience where there are limitations. I don't understand the people who just want to b!tch. To each their own though.

Actually if the internet was out, that would make me want to play a video game even more. If my internet is out, it means my cable is out so that severely limits the entertainment options I have.

Point two i just learned a few minutes ago that you have full access to anyone that assigns you as a family member to their entire gaming library for FREE. I don't know about you but that sounds better to me than even renting a game.

It's funny to me that people who are always on the internet are complaining about this. Lol

I'll add one more edit. If your internet does go out for more than 24 hours, chances are you are in a situation where you wouldn't want to play a videogame.
Dude I worked in a call center for a cable company, peoples internet goes out EVERYDAY and sometimes the techs can't make it out to fix it for a few days, sometimes even a week!

Thats bull**** and you know it. You are happy with the XB1 even with its restrictions...so be happy. But dont claim people are just "bitching" when they complain about legitimate issues with the XB1 and its structure.

You dont mind that the XB1 doesnt have those restrictions, fine. But dont act like people are just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Yeah. I think I could deal with the DRM stuff, but the possibility of this annoys me. If it was maybe 72 hours or something I'd be more ok with it.

In my last place the cable/internet signal was sketchy, so sometimes it'd go out for a day or so...I'd like to not have to worry about my gaming system like that.

I may still decide it's worth the hassle, we'll see. I just understand your viewpoint and agree with you. I need to figure out if I like the other features enough to tip the scales.

Point two is comparing two things that have nothing to do with each other. I like control. I like to be able to try a game through rental for as long as I want. I like to be able to trade in games without restrictions. I dont want to have to rely on a friend to have a game, him add me as a family member just so I can play the game when ever he isnt playing it.

Also there are plenty of games (Nascar, Dishonored as examples) that I wanted to try out and none of my friends owned it. So my choice would be to buy the game or just never play it.
Lol ok, well you've made up your mind so that's cool. Clearly this really bothers some people and then there are people like me that can just accept it for what it is. In the end i just want to play good games. In the 7 years that i've owned my 360 i've never once played it offline. I guess i'm just lucky.

Good luck having fun playing these next gen games off line (The Division, Destiny) on your PS4. While they don't require you to have a connection, it's pretty clear you need to be connected to fully enjoy the experience.

I believe that the majority of people are just piling on. That's the internet world that we live in. 70% of them don't even know the facts. Obviously i'm throwing out arbitrary percentages but that's how i feel. You constantly read ridiculous statements being made.

I'm getting a PS4 as well. I just feel like i needed to vent about the X1. I just can't stand the constant nonsense. Obviously you know what's going on but you are in the minority imo.

Its all about whats most important to you. For me its:

                    - Ability to trade in ALL games
                    - Getting the system most of my friends are buying (for online games) and
                    - Renting games from Gamefly

Also the Ps4 has the one exclusive I care most about (The Show).

So I went with the console that has all of that. It didnt hurt that its 100 bucks cheaper. With that said, I can understand why people may prefer the One.

                      Re: Xbox One

DRM I care about 0% because I don't buy used games pretty much ever. BUT I still hate the fact that they have it because I know a lot of people do. MY main concern though is the 24 check in. Last time I checked I was an adult and didn't need to check in or answer to anybody. It's insulting and childish IMO.

You still dont get it. Most people have a connection. They just dont want to need a connection to play the console. You need that for the XB1. Games like destiny dont interest me so that doesnt apply to me but lets say my internet goes out for a week. Maybe I cant play online games like Destiny on my Ps4 but I can play any other game I want. On the XB1, I cant play ANY games.

Yeah, I don't understand why they can't do it every 72hrs or once a week, that seems like a simple resolution.

The friends thing is a great point. Everyone on OS it seems is going PS4, so definitely weighs in my mind.

Used games is huge too...I pay off a lot of future games with old ones.

As of now I don't like the entertainment features enough, so I favor PS4, but part of me still wants the Xbox One. This is why I'll wait until Fall when everything's 100% out in the open.

That's my thing. I have no problem with people liking the X1. Heck, I'm really glad that people like the X1. I hope they really enjoy their experience with it. But simply because some of us think the restrictions that come with the system are bogus and ridiculous, doesn't mean that we're "b****ing" and uneducated about the system and restrictions. People are going too far in trying to defend the system. At the end of the day, we're all gamers. We can have different opinions and still show respect to one another.

The idea of being able to play the entire library of up to 10 of your "family" members is not at all intriguing to you? Granted they may not have every game that you want to try, but it would save you $20 a month on those Gamefly rentals.

From what i understand, you can trade in any X1 game if you were the original buyer of the game. Third party developers aren't going to restrict you from doing so if the same game can be traded in on the PS4. I can't imagine that happening.
