    I'm assuming he means bad.

It's YMMV on PS3, but I've never had any issues with download speeds/ping/lag. I haven't had any issues on XBL either, but even in the discussions there are posters that acknowledge having download speed issues on PS3.

That is my main concern making the switch from MS to Sony. I like the infrastructure upgrades that MS is making for Live. Dedicated servers for every game is awesome. I like that new rep system, as well.

I just really hope the heavy online gamers really do their research and understand what kind of sacrifices they are making. Sony is improving their online infrastructure...but Microsoft has a HUGE headstart in all facets of online gaming.

I think the PS4 users will be fine.

Of course they will be fine as they don't really know any better.

But any heavy online 360 user will be in for a negative adjustment if they go PS4 only.

You're acting like the difference between xbox live and psn now is some kind of huge chasm that can't be crossed. Granted, the download speeds on psn blow compared to xbl, but actual online play quality isn't all that different (but the features of xbl do help it).

And I believe Sony's Planetside 2 servers with 2000 players per continent and 6000 players per server kind of refutes your last point.

So if I prefer playing online on my PS3 rather than my 360, I don't know any better?

I've been an XBL subscriber since day 1, but lets not act like XBL is leaps and bounds ahead of PSN. Slightly better? Yes, I'll accept slightly better in terms of download speeds but I've never personally had any issues in gameplay. That's redonkulous.

My experiences on PSN Plus are far better than what XBL has ever given me, but again that's all YMMV.

Why? In what specific way do you think that? No one's even seen how online will be handled on the next generation for either Sony or Microsoft and I've already gone into detail on the PS4 thread why there were issues with Sony last generation. For all we know, Microsoft's servers are going to take a huge steaming dump when everyone jumps onto live on the xbox one while everyone's downloading the day one patch to make their consoles useable offline.

I don't think you can really give blanket statements like that without knowing any details. We have to wait until the consoles are released and been out on the market for a while to see how things are even being handled. You can't just make broad generalizations about things that no one really knows about yet.

Not a huge chasm but then you reference download speeds and features are superior on live. Lol.

I am not going to get into an argument on the obvious. I will be a two system owner and enjoy both for what they are.

I just really hope Live users really do their research and understand what they are giving up if they choose to go PS4 only.

Yes, things that were fixed with the Vita even. One of Microsoft's biggest advantages for online play was cross-game party chat, which was not supported on the PS3 due to hardware limitations, but that's not going to be a problem with the PS4 at all.

What do you think Live users will be giving up by switching to PS4? What kind research do you expect people to do when Microsoft and Sony are just giving everyone their best PR speak regarding every possible feature in each system? We have to wait until after the consoles are released before we can truly judge any of that.

                      Edit:
You're basically telling everyone almost half a year before either console is released, that they should give up on one system's online play because it's going to suck, without knowing anything about it.

This will be my last post on this subject as at no point did I say anyone should make their decision now. To make that jump is just brutal. No decision should be made now. We don't even know if there will be production line issues, malfunctions, etc. Every gamer should preorder both now to hedge their bets.

As I said before, I hope every heavy Live user does their research before picking a system. That research will be done a week before a launch, at launch, a week into, etc...as soon as enough data is out for the user to make a knowledgeable decision.

There isn't an unbiased, reasonable person who can't see that Microsoft has a HUGE headstart in online gaming from an experience and investment standpoint. To even argue against this is mindnumbing.

Not asking for an argument, just an actually explanation or details as to why you explain so generically and more opinion than fact that it is as you say it is.

What research are you scared they're going to miss out on that makes XboxLive so much Better than what a FREE PSN has become? I'm very curious on what research is - And why PS+ that is subscription based for most online play is going to lag so miserably behind Live?
