I think it was a smart move. If they did this at E3 then the emphasis wouldn't have been on the games but this new direction. The games would have become secondary news compared to this. By the the time E3 starts, they should get a small boost in sales they can gush about, but more importantly, talk about their games instead.

I'm going to wait. There isn't anything out yet that says buy me. Heck, I'm betting Microsoft may even lower the price more by the holidays.

Definitely a loss for developers though. I think Harmonix is developing a Kinect Disney Fantasia game....Ouch.

Look at all the games that use PS4 camera. Oh wait, not a lot.

Make fun games that use it and people will buy it. I think people frequently forget how many Kinects that were sold last gen.

Yeah I don't think this will scare away developers from using kinect. There are millions of people out there that have it already and more people will grab it if a game comes out that's worth it. I like kinect for more than just gaming though.
I actually like it most for the non gaming stuff it does. Well worth the extra 100 I paid at launch.

Also gwg for June are max curse of brotherhood and halo spartan assault. Not sure if it's been mentioned didn't want to back read through the console war stuff to find out.

From that article. Sounds like they have the right mindset. They are making this game for fans of Disney. That's who will buy the games. If it gets reviewed well Disney fans without a kinect will most likely be forced into buying it.

A Harmonix spokesperson offered us the following, official statement on Microsoft's move: "As avid gamers, we're excited for fans to have more choices out there. As game makers, this platform change doesn't affect our strategy – it reinforces that we must continue to focus on building innovative, compelling and well-designed motion experiences to motivate consumers to buy our games.

"We believe that tightly-crafted motion games can be great, genre-defining interactive experiences, as we've proven with the Dance Central franchise on Kinect for Xbox 360, and we're eager to prove it again with Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved this fall on both Xbox One and Xbox 360."

Totally....just takes out the indie or lower budget type title....I get it, if they release a great game people will buy it. Just saying that there's no way the disconnect of Kinect (pardon the pun lol) helps Kinect development.

It helps the consumer though, overall....

I guess I'm just weird and apparently in the minority but I've just never understood the need or outrage when a console is not backwards compatible. I buy a hand full of games each year and when I'm done I'm done.

I think the more options the better for us gamers, some people like to stay with good games or great games for a long time; or give us a chance to play some games we cannot plat on NG, ex. NCAA football or a baseball game like 2k, etc.

                            I agree

I gave my 360 slim to my son to let him start his own collection of games, but I hate having to drag the Xbox back out just to play some of my older 360 games. To some that's no big deal but I sure would just like to be able to put any game in I wanted without that hassle of all that.

                              Re: Xbox One

Two of my roommates have an XB1 and one of them has been having issues out of his. When you turn the console on and connect it to a TV via HDMI, the TV cannot receive video output/signal from the console. We tried mix matching HDMI cords, trying a different TV, etc.

We did a bunch of searching online and can't find anything about it. The only thing left to do is maybe try purching an HDMI -> VGA cord or HDMI -> component to see if it's the HDMI port that is the problem.

We also hooked the other XB1 to the new TV he had purchased and it worked without hesitation or issue. We're all the way in Japan so him sending it to the factory under warrant maybe be a bit of an issue so if any of you have heard of any possible solutions (I doubt there is one) please let me know.

I told him he may just be out of luck on it.

This is great news no matter how you look at it. It would've been even better if it was $349. I wasn't a fan of kinnect, but some of the voice commands were cool when they worked. Ultimately what will matter is games. Hopefully once direct X12 drops it helps the one perform better. When/if visual parity comes, there will be nothing else that matters besides who has the better exclusives.
