Completely unrelated but the newest NFS game that came out last year is actually a blast.

I hated it at first and it's definitely not "sim" style, once you get going the game is really fun and reminds me of old school NFS Underground 2 in some ways.

The customization is awesome and having open world and the ability to challenge other humans to spontaneous races is really cool. I have a beater civic that actually has 800+ HP that I completely baited some guy with earlier and smoked him, had that nice childish fun feel to it.

The story is cheesy but pretty lengthy, 15+ hours, MP is cool too. It also has a hard mode after you beat it on normal which is sweet.

Highly recommend it, I actually bought it after my 10 hours with EA access were up. Also, they did patch in manual transmissions awhile ago which for me was a game changer.

I acutally haven't gotten to much actual gameplay in that, it's downloaded and installed like all the EA Access titles, but I generally lose patience and quit it before the game even starts because you can't skip any of the chowder, lol.

Agree w/ the discussion of not buying a system for a game. A great many friends were burnt pretty badly going PS3 over 360 last gen 'because of Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy' and then the end product was less than what they'd hoped after a relatively long wait.

Agree though with The Show being an example of an exception. It's not a single title, it's an annual release. That's buying a console for a reliably produced franchise. I wouldn't buy a One for Quantum Break, but would for the collected experience of EA Access, Tomb Raider, etc.

I say if you have the funds, get both. There are lots of great things about both and IMO it's a great time to be a gamer.

Agreed with a lot of the suggestions/discussion on here.

As for NFS, the beginning is rough and the cutscenes are really lame but once you get past that and you can start tuning your car, it's a good time IMO.

Yes now, but what did you buy when the PS4 was not out? Did you live with the PS2 version for all those years?

It is a disingenuous statement to say not to get a system for just one game, since exclusives and new releases show time and time again that people say they get a system for that, 'one game', which opens the opportunity to get into more than just that game.

Otherwise, why do you think people, 'hold out for Halo', or 'hold out until Uncharted', etc..

I got the PS3 for one game at the time, MLB '08, as did many on here... and with that it opened me up to new exclusives like Uncharted or TLoU, as well as plenty of multi-plats... but it was that 'one game' that was the push to get one in the first place.

I do not buy into one game is a system seller.

To me if you are a gamer you go get a console period. I am a gamer and the show is awesome but is just a perk on my console. Not the reason I decided to get a ps3 or ps4

Ok, like most of us, however, there are those who get one just for Call of Duty, and only buy and play Call of Duty... are they not gamers because they only want to play that one game?

I know a few people that have done just that in the past.

My argument was that a lot of people hold off on getting a console for one specific game, with obvious plans to play others, but it was that one game that pushed them to it. Hence why console makers invest in certain exclusives, to entice people to pick up said console.

We can't pretend all those threads in the past on here with people saying The Show is what got them to get a Playstation did not exist, hence the phrase, 'system seller'. Just as Halo was at one time, a system seller powerhouse.

It might have made some fans buy a ps4 to play it but nowhere near to make it a SYSTEM SELLER.

Am not sure how many PS4 were sold in March but am sure few were because of MLB the SHOW

That's another animal, buying a game for a system is what people were talking about, rather than 'system sellers' that push console sales up when they're released.

We have fewer of these these days for one reason or another.

A comment was made about nobody should buy a console for just one game. We are a sports gaming centric site, baseball is a sport, so I made a tongue in cheek comment saying, 'unless it is MLB The Show', which many, including myself, bought a console to play it... people felt the need to semantic the argument.

Do not read too far into it, and it had nothing to do with a specific console, any more than if MSFT actually did something with the High Heat license they own, and The Show was not being made, lol.

Does anyone have a headset they like using for X1? I have the standard Microsoft ones, not the adapter. I have the 60 dollar over ear headset and it's okay, a bit uncomfortable and the sound could be better IMO.

Was looking maybe at Astros but they are quite pricey.

I use the PS Gold headset. Was more cost effective to buy the adapter instead of another headset for the XB1 since I already owned the Gold headset. I'm sure there are better sounding headsets for the XB1, but I'm not overly picky about that stuff. I also rarely use my XB1 for gaming anymore. That will change when Gears 4 is released.

I just use a really nice pair of headphones with a mic attachment.

It's worth looking into the adapters sold by Turtle Beach. They have audio settings and the ability to mix game and chat audio to the balance you prefer. It also enabled mic monitoring.
