Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Killzone Shadow Fall demo postmortem. It's 101 pages, there's a lot of technical stuff, and it's interesting to leaf through if for nothing else but all the screenshots, but here's one of the more interesting points:
Demo used 4.6GB of ram, I get the feeling that Guerrilla hitting the wall with 4GB was the motivation to bump it up, not the MS ram rumors.
There were some shots, showing some of the new filters and such, but there were a few PS3vsPS4 shots.
Character models. Unsurprisingly this is where you get the least bump, it's certainly more detailed, but given that for the PS3 they spent the bulk of processing power on the character models, it's not an outrageous stark difference. (click the links to see larger images)

Environments. This is where you get your bump, some of these environmental objects were just plain ugly, shockingly ugly out of context. But the level of detail really shoots up in all these environmental shots:
Junk pile, way more detailed and interesting to look at.
Spoiler
Crumbling support columns. Pretty big difference here.
Spoiler
One of the columns in detail. HUGE difference, the column from Killzone 3 was just downright ugly, especially the rebar sticking out of the top.

So, basically what this means is we better have full sidelines and amazing crowds in NCAA and Madden.--
Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

Really hoping the first batch is bug free, or at least free of major defects.
How can yall say this before seeing what the Xbox720 has to offer?Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I had 2 Wii's (Nintendo sent new one for free), my launch 360 was fixed free after RROD but Sony wanted 120.00 to fix the YLOD.
So all in all Sony was the worse customer service for me.Joshua:

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Now my buddy was a playstation only fan. He bought the PS3 at launch day. After about 2 years or so it developed the YLOD. He called Sony and they wanted to charge him like 100 something to have it fixed. He got pissed because he took care of his system, never leaving it on extended periods of time, and felt the YLOD was not his fault so why should he be forced to cover the expense of something he didn't break.
So he got so mad he shelved the PS3 and went bought a Xbox 360. Since then you ask him "you getting PS4?", his response is always the same "**** Sony!!!!".
Now I'm leaning heavily to the PS4 even though I'm more of a xbox fan. Sony seems to be bringing a better focus towards games this next gen. So I'm trying to talk my buddies in looking at the PS4 as a option. As of now, I've had no luck trying to convince them.
Perception of each company can be drastically different from each person you talk to. Now, like I told my buddy MS and Sony both have the same policies in place for repair/issues with their systems, the only difference this current generation is that MS acknowledge the issue more openly and directly took action to soften the blow these problems might cause with how people view their product for future purchases. In my buddies instance, this has earned them one more 360 sale and what appears to be a 720 sale just because Sony "did him wrong" in his mind.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Neither ps3 or 360 gave me issues. I had the red rings of death but Microsoft fixed it and haven't had any more issues. I just prefer the Interface of the ps3 and how "open" the dashboard/home screen is.
But 360 online is better IMO .
So I prefer ps4, but Ill probably be happy with either.#1 Laker fan

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Well, for me it all started with NES then SNES, then N64 & PS1, then GC & PS2, then two 360s and finally a PS3.
I am definitively one of the very, VERY unlucky ones of this generation, had no trouble whatsoever with the consoles of past generations.
I liked the 360 and made many friends as its online is filled with many more users, maybe twice or triple the amount ... up until I suffered the dreaded RROD, less than a year of its adcquisition ... since I live on DR, I went to MS office here and they refused to make a call to their own customer service, which costed me more than US$10 in phone calls to their so called free number (here nothing is free, maybe for US) ... then, I had to ship the system to US with a currier (paying around US$200 due to the MS box, ship fee, plus taxes), as the DR office also refuesd to accept it and send it to any of their US offices ... had to wait 3 weeks to receive the system back, a new one, just to see it suffer again a month after ... given what it costed me to get it attended by MS, I decided to get it fix here by a (non related MS) technician, costing me US$50 to have it repair, to once again, have it had a RROD just 6 months later (3rd).
Thats when I had enough and bought a PS3. I love that with it you can connect online and have access to an explorer and to see any websites such as my ESPN fantasy leagues, anime sites and of course, OS ... have also made many friends, even tho there are much fewer users. Then again, since 2 months ago the system started to turn off without any imput and is now currently with a technician (again, unrelated to PS) and seems that I would pay around US$50.
Right now, I am leaning towards the PS4 but I will ultimately base my decission after E3 and close to hollydays, once I get more details of both systems and specially, on the games that will be offered at launch.Last edited by ffaacc03; 05-20-2013, 02:43 PM.Comment
