    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

I think he was just referring to "groundbreaking" games.

I don't know what his definition of that is, though.

For me, I haven't been wowed since the initial console releases and switch to the current gen, really. Games have stedily been improving graphically and they are just now starting to unleash the potential of the PS3 IMHO.

The problem is, now developers will have something easier to work with in the PS4 and the PS3 games likely won't be taking any other leaps in the near future. I think we have just about seen as good as we're going to see as far as technology goes, even if the PS3 has a lot of life left in it.

The exclusives have been outstanding for the PS3, though. That's one of the biggest advantages to owning it.

Again, It all depends on your definition of groundbreaking. Are we talking graphically or what here ? Story wise, there have been some really cool games. I think interaction like you get with Heavy Rain may be considered groundbreaking. We have seen similar things in the past, but nothing on that level that works so well with the story. We still have The Last of Us and then Beyond: Two Souls to go. I have a lot of hope for both of those, especially considering the history of those developers.

It's one of those though where, if none of those PS3 exclusives are groundbreaking, what 360 titles are? Gears of War 1 maybe, but after that it became a drowned out, boring, same as always story. Halo? Same thing. Forza, same thing. SCEA has been a lot more ambitious in it's 1st party developing and it shows.

I think his point was that the PS3 exclusives, while great games, didn't seem to really use the Cell power any more than other games...There wasn't some drastic difference in visuals because the PS3 was more powerful.

Who says the PS3 was that much overpowered compared to the 360? 360 had a better GPU, PS3 had a better CPU, and games that wring the best out of the PS3, especially Naughty Dog games, look slightly better than anything on the 360. It's not leaps and bounds better, but better, and certainly not worse like the crappy PS3 multiplatform ports.

Yeah, not talking about a list of first party games. I already know these.

For the point I was trying to make and understand, the 360 doesn't matter since it never proclaimed to be such the powerhouse.

People just seem to be saying that now. Essentially saying that devs ported to the PS3 because Cell was hard to program for, but PS3 was better than 360.

I'm just saying that the PS3 exclusives were nice, but didn't really seem that much better than what 360 puts out too...

I think games will be 99% similar on each system anyways.

They won't be, Xbone has 50% less compute power in it's GPU, that's not a small difference.

                    This is false.

MS has slightly slower system RAM (3 vs 5) but the Xbox has 32 megs of dedicated "cache" more or less that PS4 does not have.

It will probably be slower, but not much.

You should wait till they run the
machines to push out hard numbers before making sweeping generalizations.

Sorry if posted somewhere but can someone point me to the details on digital downloads from PS3 to PS4.

Basically will the games I have bought from PS3 store be transferable to PS4?
Also has there been any talk on Sony's PS4 online plan? Same PS+ program etc..

                      Thanks for the help.

Just getting some focus points together before E3 to help decide which order I'll be getting the systems.
One day I lean PS4 then the next ONE..

So decided to get all stuff I care about in order. Would be much easier if I wasn't addicted to all new tech and had brand loyalty.. lol

Ground breaking or not, the PS3 exclusives were amazing and the #1 reason that there is no doubt that I will be buying a PS4.
