I think he was just referring to "groundbreaking" games.
I don't know what his definition of that is, though.
For me, I haven't been wowed since the initial console releases and switch to the current gen, really. Games have stedily been improving graphically and they are just now starting to unleash the potential of the PS3 IMHO.
The problem is, now developers will have something easier to work with in the PS4 and the PS3 games likely won't be taking any other leaps in the near future. I think we have just about seen as good as we're going to see as far as technology goes, even if the PS3 has a lot of life left in it.
The exclusives have been outstanding for the PS3, though. That's one of the biggest advantages to owning it.
Again, It all depends on your definition of groundbreaking. Are we talking graphically or what here ? Story wise, there have been some really cool games. I think interaction like you get with Heavy Rain may be considered groundbreaking. We have seen similar things in the past, but nothing on that level that works so well with the story. We still have The Last of Us and then Beyond: Two Souls to go. I have a lot of hope for both of those, especially considering the history of those developers.
