Looks like a couple agree with user 23. Unless you guys were simply referring to the micro usb cable itself only, which wasn't really the concern when I made my post. I agree any micro usb cable will work to charge the PS3 controller, but my biggest concern was finding a compatible ac wall adapter. The important component in reference is the ac wall adapter, not the usb micro cable.
For those that say or believe any wall ac outlet adapter will work to charge the PS3, it would be greatly appreciative if you guys can take a picture of that specific AC wall adapter that shows a PS3 controller being charged.
This would greatly help since ac wall adapters are probably cheaper than $10. Knowing a compatible alternative to Sony's ac wall adapter (MSRP $24.99, currently discontinued, but still available on ebay at about $10 dollars) would be great for future reference.
Note: As specified in my previous post, a PS4 controller will charge with any usb micro cable and any ac wall outlet adapter, while a PS3 controller is ridiculously specific. The Sony OEM charger is the only ac wall adapter that I have that will charge my PS3 controller.
