I understand why companies introduce motion controls, VR and other gimmicky ways to play video games. But what's wrong with a controller? The controller has been around for what, four decades? Why do companies feel the need to reinvent the wheel?

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
While I agree, the most convenient and comfortable way to game is with a good old fashioned controller. But eventually there has to be a new medium to playing games.
Eventually VR will be here full force (Capt Obvious checking in), but it's going to take a first and second and probably third tries and respective failures to get it right.

There's a reason the WiiU completely went away from what the Wii built.badComment

We've got to keep evolving!

I've had no interest in VR at all since Oculus was first announced. What it offers doesn't appeal to me. I guess VR makes you feel "apart" of the game but any decent game with a good story and characters already does that without VR.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
That's what gaming companies have been saying for awhile now and each attempt has failed miserably. I agree that introducing new ways to play is nothing new and will happen, it just seems as it will fail just like every other attempt to introduce new gaming tech.

I do however think it's important to keep pushing boundaries even if it doesn't appeal to everyone or be a 100% hit in its first attempt.

Why wouldn't it be different though? That's like saying things won't be different (improve) between this generation of consoles and the next.
Or: "These graphics on the SNES are so good. There's no way they can ever get better than this".

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Disagree, I would buy into VR waaaaaaaaay before Hololens (and I'm not gung-ho about buying into VR unless it's going to be like half of what I expect of the price). There are games I have played, and types of games I want to play, that are perfectly suited for VR. I can't think of a single counterpart for Hololens.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
If it's anything like this down the pike then it should be amazing.
The Tiltbrush demo towards the end of the video was mind blowing to me. Just check it out please. (unless you've already seen it of course)
