The PS3 also didn't have any kind of great technological advancement that's well supported of from the tv and movie industry.

The PS3 supports blu ray/1080p/3D. So does the PS4 minus 3D.

4K is the next big thing if you like it or not. Sony is trying to get ahead of technology like they did with blu ray and the PS3.

All technology companies come up with something better after 2-3 years. Phones, TVs, tablets, computers/laptops. What made you think gaming consoles was exempt from this?

Sony doesn't owe us anything. Their only job is to make money and it appears they believe a 4K console is the correct choice. I like it and I'll buy it just because it can play 4K movies.

If price came down really affordable with OLED, 4k wouldn't exist long at all. Cause OLED is the tech I want and would crush 4k imo.

Hmmm, but for $400-$500, you WON'T be getting 4K. Costs a lot more than that. This is what is so funny. Gamers thinking that they will get this and when they don't, they will still be complaining about the games not looking good enough and the consoles are still underpowered. Smh.

Of course you won't get true 4K gaming. I don't think anyone has suggested that but you'll be able to play 4K movies and stream 4K content and games will look better than the PS4.

It really is a users choice. OLED has shortfalls such as burn in and longevity issues.

Plasma TVs were generally seen as better than LCDs but LCDs were cheaper and that's what consumers picked.

OLED and 4k aren't even competing technologies.

PS3 slim/super slim both were improved, they both did Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA bitstreaming which, just like 4k, was a big deal if you had the hardware that supported it.

Speaking of the PC vs consoles "debate"...just over 4 years ago I spent $2800 on a top of the line ASUS gaming laptop. Since I'm buying Quantum Break tomorrow I am getting a free copy of the Windows 10 version. I check the system specs thinking my laptop would run it but probably at lower settings.

Nope, my $2800 laptop which was as badass as they come 4 years and 1 month ago won't even run Quantum Break on the lowest possible setting.

Then I look over at my PS4 and Xbox One and remember why I prefer console gaming. I've had my PS4 for 2 years. I'll bet in 2 more years when its 4 years old it'll still be relevant to new PS4 games.

$399 versus $2,800 and the cheap one runs games for years and years while the other simply....doesn't. End of debate IMO.

That's simply a case of being uninformed enough to spend nearly 3000 dollars on a laptop for gaming and thinking it'd be "future-proofed" four years later for AAA games. Do you have a link to that exact laptop by the way and where you bought it? I'm just curious about the specs of a $3000 laptop from 2012.

That's a terrible comparison too but hey, like you said, end of debate.

Have to wait and see. If they don't develop exclusives for PS4.5, then I really don't see the point of it. But whatever.

Did games still come out for PS3 and 360 when the One and PS4 launched?

Yeah, I know they did, and this probably won't even be at that level. This will probably be "one version runs at 30 fps" and "the other version runs at 60 with maybe an added effect or two."

It's the same concept. I had a fatty 20GB PS3 and it played the same PS3 games as the new slim PS3 did. Just like the PS4 and PS4K.

Did anyone NOT upgrade to a slim PS3 or Xbox 360 last generation? Pretty sure 90% of us here did and yet we are complaining about new versions of consoles.

I would have been stoked to have an upgraded PS3 that could play games in 1080p instead of just having slimmer system with the same specs.

Except the fact that there were no actual differences when playing the same game. If what has been rumored turns out to be true, there will be differences when playing the same game and comparing it between PS4 and PS4.5.

Also, the slim PS3 and super slim PS3 were cheaper than the previous model. PS4.5 will NOT be cheaper or even the same price. Instead, it will be more expensive.

Sometimes, I truly wonder how gamers don't see what's wrong with this but then I realize that these are the same gamers that purchase season passes, DLC, pay for micro-transactions, etc. which in turn makes me realize why Sony is doing this - because they know they have millions of morons who will support this even though they shouldn't.

Yep some people buy games and don't rush through in 3 days to get max trade in value. They pay for season passes because they enjoy the content and they want to support the developers. Or they might not have a ton of time to play and will pay for some micro transactions to get stuff faster. God forbid they buy digital that has no trade value for the convenience.

So let me get this straight...a company is sneaky for not telling you their business plan from the start. Or for not jumping in with their announcement before their planned date because leaked rumors. Or deserve to fail because they introduce an enhanced product to do what a business does, try to make money. And before anything official is even said, you are smart enough to know they are ****ting on 40m customers and their hardware is useless. And people who choose to spend their money on something they want are morons because you wouldn't. I get all that right?

Why are you so entitled? And who are you to tell people how they should spend money?
