    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

If we are talking about the conference stream, then yeah it was hard to tell any difference in that footage they showed on 1080p. But I mean, it's a stream. It's gonna need to be like on a PC when you can pause the game and switch between medium and high or whatever to see the difference right then and there.

Anyway I feel like I am going Full Fanboy status so I'm gonna put myself on timeout.

I understand, sincerely, why anyone would pass on the Pro. I just don't feel like anybody needs to be criticized for being excited about it, and maybe that never happened and I am just having "one of those days."

Regardless, hopefully Sony can demonstrate what the Pro does do, and doesn't do, more effectively in the future. Ya'll have a good weekend.

Well said, I think more people here need to take this advice. People like what they like and some are still excited and will get it regardless of what is said.

Nah, I didn't take anything you said as fanboyism or anything extreme. Like I mentioned to you in a PM, I miss the days of OS where two level headed people can disagree and discuss a topic, make good points and just have a discussion. Heck, it's why we're here right?

From what I've read and seen, Sony will be releasing a bunch of more info over the next few weeks and I just hope they clear up alot of this stuff. Because on forums like these, for the most part, we can fill in the blanks. But from general news reports it seems there is alot of confusion about what this system is and isn't and if you fast forward a year, I think MS is going to have the same communication issues.

How do you explain to the consumer they need this without making the ones that brought you here, so to speak, feel incredibly slighted?

Are you suggesting a fast-paced game like Rocket League dropping to 40 FPS is a good thing for some users?

Since it does play at 60FPS when performance allows it's almost certainly a multiplayer game that will run better on the Pro.

Not going to end up paying 400 for ps4 when bought and then trading it in for $200 and paying another 200 plus tax for PRO which means I paid Sony 600 plus tax for a generation console that got me from 30fps to 60fps which we know will not be locked.

If I had a 4K tv then PRO all the way

Heard Sony doesn't want to alienate people on the non pro versions so the pro won't have higher framerates just better graphics or higher resolutions with HDR. If true that's bad.

Multilayer games they've said won't have an increases over the Base console, so I'm wondering if that means stuff like RL and Dark souls is exempt anyway.

But I'm really saying I'm upset that devs are still choosing bells and whistles over a locked 60 FPS. I feel like 1080/30 is better than unlocked varying between 45-60 with drops, and that somehow people paying more will end up with a lesser product at 1080P. That's why I'm all the way off the Pro bandwagon personally, I'm shocked they aren't mandating locked framerates at the least. But then again the consequences may no be as dire as they are on PC (stuttering, screen tearing, etc.) Sounds like a disaster.

I thought that was for online play only? Why would a game that is 1080p 30fps single player on ps4 not be 60fps on the pro?

Tomb Raider comes with a setting for both options. 1080p full fidelity and 30fps and 1080p less fidelity and 60fps

Sorry of this was already posted. Just saw this and figured it would be worth sharing since we were just discussing this

A few games have confirmed details of what Pro Mode will do at 1080p

                  Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

                  PS4 Pro with a 1080p display:

                  Super sampling anti-aliasing.

                  Paragon

                  PS4 Pro with a 1080p display:

Enhanced visual effects, procedural ground cover, higher scene complexity, greater texture fidelity, and dynamic reflections.

                  The Witness

                  PS4 Pro with a 4K display:

1440p resolution or possibly higher upscaled to 4K with a consistent 60 FPS. Text, menus, and other UI will be set at native 4K.

                  PS4 Pro with a 1080p display:

1080p resolution instead of 900p and increased antialiasing quality from 2x to 4x MSAA, while keeping a solid 60 FPS.
Hopefully we can get more info like this

This is exactly the kind of stuff we need them to show us. And unfortunate they didn't do so at least to some extent on the 7th but better late than never.

I was a bit surprised with the Shadow of Mordor support. I thought the graphics were OK at release. Some screenshots looked nice. I wasn't blown away by the little 4K Tomb Raider stuff I saw but the Horizon Zero Dawn was nice. I need to see the For Honor 4K stuff. Heard that was pretty good.

It's not really defending it, but it's kind of a problem lol. I don't play Elder scrolls games but I want the best for their fans because the best thing for gamers is just the best thing. It bugs me that people see other people getting **** on and just go "Well it's not my problem " but it's kinda the way it is lol

I pre-ordered the PS4 Pro today at my local eb games. I'll be trading in my current PS4 in november towards the Pro. Do I have to delete all info in the system myself before trading it in? Just want to be prepared when it's time.

It is for multiplayer only. The offline will have options for higher framerate on the pro.

I would. They claim they do it, but you never know. I know someone that traded in a PS4 and someone else logged into their account because GameStop didn't reset it.
