Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
After moaning, groaning and complaining about it since the rumors earlier this year, I must admit that im thus far happy with my purchase. I have realized that once you start playing/watching games in 4K with HDR, you can't go back. It just won't feel and obviously look the same. 4K is great but HDR is the game changer and once metadata is used in HDR, it will look and be even better.
With that all said, I still don't like or agree with Sony releasing PS4 PRO because as a console gamer, I don't want it to become like PC gaming. The only thing I will like is if developers give options ala ROTTR to choose what you want to play in. But that's as far as I want to have to go on a console. Only other thing I like is field of view in first person shooters. Seriously though, that's it. I don't want any of those graphics options and stuff like in PC where it's like a full list of stuff you can adjust. Just no. I spent three hours fine tuning my TV yesterday and now, I have it setup the way I want it to be. I don't want console games to become like that because I'll waste more time adjusting and testing all that stuff instead of just playing the games.
I am looking forward to playing future games with HDR on PRO like Watch Dogs 2, Horizon, For Honor, Ghost Recon and so many more. I simply can't go back.
And Jarebear, I know that you're enjoying the better picture and whatnot but seriously, once you get a 4K HDR TV, you won't be able to go back. I'm not a visuals whore but jeez, HDR makes the games look so ******* gorgeous that I can't go back to non-HDR. Just no way.
I can't wait to finish up The Witcher III Blood and Wine expansion on my 4K HDR TV. I know that it doesn't officially support 4K and HDR but you can still get HDR just by turning it "on" instead of having it as "auto" because it does make a difference.
HDR is a true game changer. People that discredit it have never seen it. It's simple...

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I dunno what MS's plan is regarding their generational approach but yeah, I also believe there will definitely be a PS5. This isn't a big enough upgrade to qualify as a new start. The CPU is still a bottleneck and other areas outside of the GPU aren't really up to snuff anymore either. The PRO really is harmless, I said it a long time ago. It is just a PS4 with some extra power/options/compatibility
I am curious to see what MS does. If the Scorpio is as powerful as they say I wonder if it will just become "the new xbox" but I guess that is a question for a different thread.
Yeah pro is only like 2 times has powerful has ps4 and a lot of times when you go from a old system to a new gen systems are like 5-10 times has powerful has the old one. From what I have heard Scorpio is going to be like 5 times has powerful has xboxone so really that is more like a new gen compared to ps4 pro.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I quickly checked the specs on LG's site, it has 10 bit colour. You mayyyyy get HDR on that monitor. I have no idea how you would activate it, on my Sammy I had to enable UHD Colour on every input I wanted HDR on. And it won't be the Premium HDR that the really expensive sets are getting. But I would look up if there's any firmware updates for your monitor.
Either way, congrats on the purchase. Looking at the specs and LG's site, that looks like one terrific gaming monitor. I know you said you don't care for HDR, but it's worth investigating if it's available on yours.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Thats the one thing I havent been able to figure out. For PC monitors if they support the full color gamut (1.1 billion colors or whatever it is) is that technically HDR?"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

I definitely agree that 4k is the real hero with the Pro and gets the huge benefit."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
There's even more to it than that, with HDR10 and Dolby Vision, but that monitor sbauer bought "on paper" should play in HDR10.
