Sony needed to do 2 GPUS in their nobody is left behind plan. Having the more powerful GPU only would or could have had legacy issues with older already established games..Simple solution for them is have the vanilla GPU make it all the same as before

And also Sony did not advertise the PRO much because they wanted to sneak it up under the nose of their close to 50 million owners

MS should not care who they upset as they needed to rebrand their console and bring power to the table...Many of their close to 20 million owners are welcoming this much more then Sony fans are for the PRO

i usually am all for makig sur the community is set when i do my sliders and rosters

but when it comes to fidelity all can screw i want the best LOL

honestly any one who is a microsoft fan should move onto windows 10 pc gaming thats what im doing when scorpio comes out. unless madden 18 looks like something ripped from rea life then who knows

No I do not want to build a pc because am a sports gamer and online shooter gamer and even if the pc versions look incredible....go look at the install base and online rooms for games like TF2 and COD on PC...Full of cheaters and not much mass of fans there

I like console gaming and I also want the best I can get at console level

I am getting the Scorpio because I like the XB ecosystem and playing in equal footing with fans that have some specs as me

Same for the Sony console..

Nintendo switch? YUP day one
NES Classic? YUP but couldnt wake up at 2am to wait til the store opened at 8am(passed the pint of EVER EVER doing that again)
Scorpio? again if madden isnt on PC then ill prob. cave again but right now the plan is to get my computer upgraded since i have a gtx 970 and the 970 is now BLOWN away by the gtx 1070 so

I dunno what MS's plan is regarding their generational approach but yeah, I also believe there will definitely be a PS5. This isn't a big enough upgrade to qualify as a new start. The CPU is still a bottleneck and other areas outside of the GPU aren't really up to snuff anymore either. The PRO really is harmless, I said it a long time ago. It is just a PS4 with some extra power/options/compatibility

I am curious to see what MS does. If the Scorpio is as powerful as they say I wonder if it will just become "the new xbox" but I guess that is a question for a different thread.

OK i will say this i pre ordered it digitally

all videos all look better than they have ANY right to be

san fran looks greatly modeled and it feels more like a gta 5 game at least thats what i want from it

Id say get it if you like sports games and gta 5 as much as i do

Great discussion guys and will chime in some . I feel that Pro is really just a money grabber and not necessarily next gen..I had high hopes for the pro but in actuality theres really no benefit for me in spending an extra 400 bucks on a console that really is limited to the average user..

I'm wondering was the pro designed just to push the 4k tv agenda? It should have been release about the same time as the Scorpio with a true 1080/4k focus development in mind..

I guess my answer would be two things:

A.) It's built for people who don't have a PS4 and for the price of what PS4 cost at launch you get a bigger HD and more powerful machine.

B.) For people who 4k TVs or who plan to upgrade soon and want to get the most out of this generation on their current displays

and then of course for the few fringe weirdos like me who want any extra bell or whistle on 1080p, despite how marginal that may or may not be, whether it is a resolution bump here, or some FPS gains there, or slightly faster load time here and there

Honestly it would not have bothered me if they scrapped this idea after the Scorpio announce and re-tooled it to launch when Scorpio does and match Scorpio in power

I disagree with your first paragraph and totally agree with your second. Really, everything is a money grab but the Pro was never marketed as next gen. So in that sense, it's doing mostly what it says it would.

But I couldn't agree more on the release date, maybe not quite when Scorpio released, because I do think being first was more important to Sony because of the alleged lack of power in relation to Scorpio. But even though I got a Pro, happily, the launch could have been much much better and better support.

Big yes to the bolded part.

I think if every Pro Mode game had full Pro Mode options (frame rate, enhanced effects, enhanced resolution, basically what ROTTR does) AND on top of that the list of games at launch been longer then I think there would have been much more positive buzz. I think they just would have needed more time for all that maybe compensated some big devs for their effort in those regards to full Pro Mode options

The way it feels right now, to me, as far as Pro Mode support, is bascially game to game instead of going in expecting a full fleshed out support its more like "eh, you get whatever is there." Maybe it is downsampling, maybe it is smoother performance , its a mystery
