Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
OK, getting close to pulling the trigger on the KS8000. Anyone think the Vizio P Series is a better way to go? I keep going back and forth. For example, Giant Bomb just purchased the Vizio, and I would like to think Drew or someone on staff would have had to choose between the two.
I'm going 65", and this will replace a 65" Panasonic plasma from 2010.

Had that same vizio P Series and returned it. Too many limitations. First, it only has 1 HDMI port that has low input lag which is HDMI port 5 and that port doesn't support HDR. Ports 1-4 do support HDR but then input lag becomes unbearable and high. Also, out the box the tv doesn't support HDR 10 which is the standard and used by both Xbox and PS4. Vizio sent the update over the air but it was bad and having issues. I ended up returning it and getting the ks8000. The Vizio looks good for movies in dark rooms, but the picture on the ks8000 a lot better and it's great for gaming.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
That is you.
For a lot of people, the jump from 1080p to 4k is HUGE.
Your comments are somewhat naive. People upgrade their GPU on their PC all the time simply for better graphics. So, the empirical proof that people DO want better graphics is already there.Comment

Like I've said before though, it's their money so if they think it's worth it - good for them.badComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Haven't a lot of pro tech people said that the end result of the checkerboarding is surprisingly close to the real thing?
I mean I know there is no point for me to even try. People have made up their minds on the Pro either way, with or without trying it themselves
I don't think anyone can definitely say the upgrade is or isn't worth it for anyone else. Way too subjective"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
That's a great price! I paid $2000 plus tax for mine. It went down to $1800 before my return period so I went to BB and got them to credit me $200.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
FYI. For people on a lean budget but wanting to get into 4k and HDR I bought an LG 50inch from best buy for $399 and it is working great so far. I'm sure it is not as good as the $1600 Samsung and Sony but it really delivers for me. I haven't seen HDR on one the super high end screens but this one is great for the price.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Guys UBER has a point. He said is not for him and not saying others cant be happy but is true that corners were cut to get 4K which is for the most part never going to be native for new games that are not linear
Checkerboard is just a fancy word for we cant do 4K native so we throw a band aid on it
Checkerboard just uses a tech that makes the resolution resemble 4K at the cost of losing shaders which is why the image at 4K is soft in many games that are upscaled to 4K.From a distance is not apparent but the corners were cut as this is not a 4K console.
Having said that the console is priced perfect for what is offering and is a huge upgrade to vanilla ps4 with 4K HDR tvs
That is FACT
Most people reviewing and talking about the shortcomings are basing it on 30 or so patched old games
No game yet has been made with the PRO in mind
I dont want to download patches for my games on the PRO
Going forward all games will be made with PRO as lead console and will have in game settings or 1080p owners or a simple downscale which helps the image on 1080p a bit but right now at the cost of performances
That will be sorted outComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
It is HDR. It's a $699 TV that was a black Friday special. How can you say it's not HDR? I had to enable the deep color feature on the hdmi port and now the ps4 sees it as such and does go into hdr as indicated. Is it as good as $1600 samsung? I'm sure it's not but it looks pretty spectacular to me.
Again, this is not simulated hdr. It's legit. But it is probably not as good as the high end tvs.
I did my research and only bought this once I confirmed the HDR was HDR 10 compatible.
