I agree too. No point in owning both IMO if you go without kinect.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
Unless you REALLY want exclusives, but from a personal point of view I realized I can live without a few exclusives I missed, and even when I had both systems I'd skip a lot just cause i was busy....Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Ya I agree. Worded that post bad. Person asking said they really only had interest in halo. So I figured that meant they didn't really have much interest as far as exclusives go.Comment

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
FYI.....
I watch TV and play with my PS4 at the same time. I've been doing that for years(it's how I edit rosters for MLB The Show)
You use the PiP of the TV/monitor(provided you have a PiP option)
I have mine set up with a Sony receiver that has all of my components hooked up to it...I can control which two I use at the same time and can easily switch which one is my main screen and which is the PiP box.
So...while I am editing...I have MLBTS in the PiP box and my PC on the main screen. I do my searching/researching and edit in the largest PiP box.
Sometimes I am watching a game(real life)....while playing MLBTS on the main screen....Something great happening in the real game?...I hit the swap button and the two inputs swap positions and I can watch the real game on the main screen for a bit if I like.
Dragon Systems let's you speak to the PC.....but I never found an application that allowed me to change channels.....so if that's important...there is a drawback there.

Yeah, it's all possible...Though my wife was able to embrace and love the Skype and everything on Xbox One. Not really sure in your scenario it's very open to non-tech type people. I don't mind switching inputs on tvs and stuff, but start telling that to my wife and her eyes glaze over.FYI.....

Good points though, for a real tech person in your situation there are ways to make it work...Personally I downgraded from a receiver, and while I could mess with PIP on tv, I don't think the TV's one lets me use HDMI as a PIP (or something, maybe just crappy PIP).
I know that wouldn't work (or just be as easy) in my household. "Xbox Mute" and "Xbox Pause" are handy when you don't know where the remote is. Ease of use is huge.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Stop...not even REMOTELY the same.
Just gotta say something, huh?
My point was...I believe he said he had a PS4....IF he also has a PiP TV and/or a receiver....he can do what the One does right now sans the talking to your TV.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
I'm pretty tech savvy but can't get my ps4 to work like that. I have a dish network box and it hooks up to my surround sound receiver as well as my ps4. All through hdmi cables. This seems to make my TV settings useless.Comment

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
I'm not sure if you are referring to my posts.......
I have DTV.
I can hook it up in one of two ways....DTV and consoles and PC directly to my monitor....or how I have it set up now......
DTV box and PC to a switch box tied directly to my monitor.....
/PS3/PS4/XBox/Sat Radio to my Sony receiver....with that going to a secondary HDMI port on the monitor.
I switch if I want DTV or PC on the main screen(can be swapped with the PiP box at any time and switched between the two as well) and use the receiver to cycle through the items hooked into it.
So I can have all of the listed items on....and say be on my PC(like now)...with the PiP box showing my MLBTS game......hit a button on my receiver and the PiP box switches to my XBox playing Madden....hit the switch for DTV/PC......and my Sat TV is on with the Met game.
I can even have my PS4 main...Xbox on the PiP or any combo.
The receiver is basically a pass through.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
I was referring to you. I am confused on how to set it up. I don't have a monitor just my TV. My surround sound receiver has hdmi ports which has my ps4 and dish network box going into it. I have to hit hdmi 1 for ps4 and hdmi 2 for dish TV.
Sorry if I sound stupid. Do u have both?Comment

I have a TV as well(a '47 Westinghouse)....I was referring to you. I am confused on how to set it up. I don't have a monitor just my TV. My surround sound receiver has hdmi ports which has my ps4 and dish network box going into it. I have to hit hdmi 1 for ps4 and hdmi 2 for dish TV.

The surround sound system might need a little different setup than what you are doing....as your TV might not support PiP from two different sources on the SAME port(your surround sound is the only thing going into your TV, right?)
So you'd have to hook either the DTV or the PS4 directly to the TV and then the other to the SurroundSound and that into a secondary port on your TV.
When you hit the PiP button....you should be able to choose which is the primary(main screen) and which source is the secondary(PiP) at that point.
That's how I actually have it now as I have the receiver loaded with my PS3/PS4/360/XBone ports....and ran out of HDMI ports on that for my DTV and PC....(my receiver allows splitting sources for output...but that doesn't matter in this case.
I'm not tech savvy...
...mostly just trial and error when I started.
Years ago was using my laptop and my TV to edit rosters and was just trying to find a better way....so I created my own Snap!

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
Just an FYI: PIP in very rare in HDTV's these days... The last 3 I have bought don't have this option or they don't support HDMI sources as the PIP source.Comment

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
yeah, that's what i've run into in the past (when I had a gaming system on Component and tv on HDMI)....wouldn't let me do the cable on the PIP sadlyNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
