It’s not out yet but I will be grabbing it to compare to my Asus. The LG looks promising.

It won't be as good as the ASUS...There is no better 144hz or 165 oc monitor than the ASUS you bought.

That LG monitor dumped the GSync module to lower cost but it has GSYN capabilities for NVIDIA users which is still not as good as true GSYNC

The 1ms is impressive but that is marketing as Linus Tech Tips already stated it does not reach that and only way is to put it on overdrive which causes huge overshoot.

For 500 dollars and no true Gsync is a no for me

Cool. Man I need settings. I feel I’m not getting the most out of my monitor.

Linus Tech tips, also says it's a great monitor for what gamers want and expect, he also says in the video that NO monitor does true HDR, THE LG I have claims to do HDR TOO, So of LTT OS saying all these aren't the HDR, should I just turn mine off and just use the HDR effect setting?

Yea you should, the HDR in your monitor cannot be considered good because it does not have the specs for it. It has just enough to pass certification.

If you want real great HDR in monitors it is going to be with the ASUS Strix 4k 144hz monitor and even on that to get true 10 bit HDR you need to lower the hz to 98

Or the Acer Predator version which is basically the same except in SDR the Asus gets brighter

But those monitors are hovering close to 2K dollars

LG makes great monitors for SDR. I like the fact that 1ms even if just marketing and 144hz at 144p with Gsync compatibility is sweet for sure but for 500 it better have gsync and it does not

The asus monitor came out like 3 or 4 years ago and is still the KING of 1440p 144hz or OC to 165hz monitor you can get

It is IPS...The brightness is average of 390 nits at all times

The colors are amazing and so are the viewing angles.

Just know that you cannot plug ps4 pro and x on it without resorting to only 1080p as it has hdmi 1.4 and not 2.0 required for the pro and x

The only downside but if you are on a beast pc there is no need for consoles IMO. If you want a sony exclusive then get a standard ps4 and that would work great on the Asus monitor

                  Re: Gaming Monitor discussion

I'm so glad I decided to check here before making a decision...

For about the last like 3 months or so, I have been researching like crazy what's the best monitor to get since I am new to this. But so much confusion from different opinions & information out there make me super uncertain.

I strictly game on my Xbox One X...so when I ask around for opinions, I often get the "why do you even need a monitor, get a tv" etc type of responses. Or some will point me in the direction of a 4k 60hz monitor since that's the cap for consoles, while others will still recommend a 1440p 144hz.

Can somebody try to point out what's the pro's/con's of both options for using with a X1X?
All I know is I want the best monitor I can get for a max amount of about $500 while also future proofing myself for next year's consoles.

I recently narrowed my choices down to either the Samsung 27CHG70 or the 4k LG one. Being that the chg70 still reads the X1X 4K signal but also would still have the higher 144hz for future gaming needs, I was gonna go with that one. But I went into Best Buy today & saw that the LG 27UL600 was priced down to $350, so that also made me wonder if I should just go with that option. Came home, went on YouTube & saw the new LG coming out this week, so now I'm wondering if that's what I should be going for.

& Lastly, anyone else who games on console, is it worth it? Is the hype everything it's made to be?

I can feel the stress building up inside of me even as I type all of this lol...
Sorry for the novel, but just looking for some help so I can be done with this after all.

Thank all of you in advance!

All you need is a 4k HDR monitor... You already know that you'll be capped at 60fps I belive the guys in the thread were excited for a new LG that was coming out soon. You shouldn't have a problem finding a 27' with what you want for what you're willing to spend might even be less.... Scroll up a little to see about that 4k monitor they were taking about.

I go back and forth in my game room. I use a switch to go between my tv and monitor. I love doing it this way because I find myself missing sitting in my lazy boy gaming lol.

Nice!!!! I have one of these switchs, I just need a long HDMI cable from my TV to the Switch for this to work, but smart Idea, maybe I'll try this myself.

Gaming on console is a thing of the past for me now that I moved to pc. Dont get me wrong I will still rock my console for COD which i enjoy on consoles over pc due to not being good at keyboard and mouse and the lack of players like consoles but all other games I go with PC since it offers vastly superior fidelity and performance.

The X is a superb console and if you want a monitor for the X and next gen consoles go with LG 4k free sync monitor

The samsung 1440p version you mentioned is good but you wont get 4k native on it and fps do not go over 60 in console games so it defeats the purpose.

Dont get me wrong I will still rock my console for COD which i enjoy on consoles over pc due to not being good at keyboard and mouse and the lack of players like consoles but all other games I go with PC since it offers vastly superior fidelity and performance.
I'm contemplating getting the next COD on PC because of my hardware upgrades, but I'm curious as to whether you can use a controller on your PC for it still, like a DualShock 4 via USB.

Yeah you can still use your controller. Believe it or not, there are a lot of PC gamers who use controllers in FPS games. Some of them are even tournament level pro players.
