    Re: Gaming Monitor discussion

Man had my ultrawide asus sent to me and they straight didn’t pack it well and the screen cracked as well as a 27inch LG monitor. Let’s just say I’m heartbroken about it. Luckily my 27” Asus 165 hz made it.

Since I just got a new house don’t have the budget to spend a G for a new ultrawide since I’m getting a 3080 and PS5 soon.

Picked up a budget Xiaomi Mi 34” ultrawide, 144hz, 1440p for less than 400 bucks US. I don’t think you guys get Xiaomi products over there but from my experience they have been very good brand a.m budget price in Asia.

Haven’t received it yet but it’ll be good for awhile and it’s 144hz where as my asus was 100hz.

I still have a 32” LG for a 4K monitor so no need to replace the 27”.

What’s the difference between the 27” LG monitor you guys recommended and this one?

That one does not support GSYNC and has no USB

But most importantly do not get anything bigger then 27 for 1440p as the pixel density would be trash.

32 and higher should be for 4k only

27 is the spot for 1440p

that is a fantastic choice for both consoles. my only concern is when you want to try that 120fps mode on those few titles it would have crazy screen tearing since that monitor does 60hz. I just think that your console would be set to 4k 60fps with hdmi 2.0 and the 120fps option would not be accessible. But that is fine as most 120fps games will have huge sacrafices to fidelity so I would be happy with 60fps and that monitor would be great for both consoles.

Pretty happy with this one, picked it up around Prime Day for $300, though I don't think it was technically a Prime Day sale.

My monitor space is limited, and 27 inches is about the biggest I can get. Glad I found one that size that was also 1440p and 144 Hz. This purchase isn't just about the PC gaming - it's also in preparation for the PS5.

Gonna attempt to fix the two monitors that got busted, maybe sell it after. Might as well try to salvage it while my resort is closed

                  Re: Gaming Monitor discussion

I’m having the worst luck with monitors. My lg 32” 4K monitor (uk850) stopped working and found that I screwed the vesa mount too hard to a monitor arm and now it can’t read anything connected to it. Warranty ran out just a couple months ago too.

I am getting it replaced with a budget 4K 60hz 27” Benq el2870u I got on sale for less than 300 bucks. It’s a TN panel with 1ms response time so it won’t be as pretty as my LG but at least I got something to play my ps5 on if I get one and it’ll be the fastest monitor I have.

Btw the Xiaomi ultrawide I got has been great. Fantastic deal for 400 bucks. If you live outside the US, you should be able to snag one.

Does anyone have any experience with this 1440p monitor? I'm considering it for my Series X, but I'm not sure I want a curved monitor. Other suggestions under $400 are welcome.

I have the 1080p version of this monitor and I love it. So I would assume it's pretty good. And that price seems to be really good as well.

Can't seem to find any reviews for it though. Nothing on rtings.

I'm just wondering about the HDR mode. It would have to get pretty bright for it to be good. And it would probably have to be a 10 bit panel, which I can't find that info either.

Under specs, it says “bit depth” is 8 bit. Is that the info you were looking for?

No reviews is a little worrisome. Maybe it’s new.

Yeah, 8 bit won't give you true HDR. I would either look for 10 bit or save some money and don't worry about HDR. I know a lot of people don't even bother with HDR when it comes to gaming monitors. A lot of other specs can be more important. It just depends how important it is to you.
