    Re: Gaming Monitor discussion

OLED still runs the risk of screen burn. Screens are getting better about it, but especially with things like gaming where there is often a minimap or other single image always on screen then it is a risk.

Are you set on a curved display like the Odyssey and 4k? The 4k is going to require a lot of PC power as I'm sure you know, and the frames will suffer. It will look great obviously if everything is running as intended though. I was recently in the monitor hunting market, and I consistently saw the Odyssey rated among the top curved displays out there. So I don't think that you can go wrong there.

This is going a little bit in the opposite direction, but if you are not set on curved/4k and just want high performance with good picture quality then this is what I went with as it was one of the top rated 1440p displays across the board both in terms of gaming and picture quality.

I ended up getting the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8. This monitor is INSANE. It is literally the closes thing to OLED I have ever seen. Worth every penny.

Photos don't do this monitor justice, got me redownloading all my old games just to see how it looks on here. Proper HDR on a monitor is insane. Black is black, like OLED black. I thought I would never see the day a monitor could pull that off.

Funny Gotmadskillz said you didn’t want a 42 inch oled for your monitor. I just ordered the LG c2 to be my above monitor over my 27 inch asus ips gaming monitor I’ve had for awhile now and my 34 inch ultra wide xiaomi.

Kinda feel like a monitor whore but I’m living in one of the rooms at my resort for a year while my house is being built and will use it as my regular tv and a monitor

Anyone have good PS5 settings for LG C2 tv? Got the 42” today and going to see if I can deal with a bigger screen. So used to a 27” monitor now.

I have some settings but they aren’t accurate if you’re looking for a purest calibration settings. I have one but they are more to give a lot of pop which I personally enjoy for gaming but not for movies.

It's pricey, but no regrets w/ my LG 45" a few months since getting it. Don't see myself ever replacing this willingly. Almost certainly move on from my 49" super-ultrawide, let the wife use it for her audio editing or something and may get a second 32" for a 3rd monitor in place of it.

Will post a pic once I clean up my desk I suppose.

Has anyone used a Samsung Frame TV for gaming? I'm only a moderate gamer and we have a smaller home so trying to balance function and aesthetics. My wife and the "looks like a framed photo when not in use" is a big appeal for her (and me to some degree). 43" is only 60hz unfortunately, so would be capped at 60fps, but if it can do 4k @ 60fps, I can live with that as a compromise I think.

There'd be compromises, but yeah that'd be fine.

I'd google for more impressions, randomly clicked through this video and seemed to be fine. Maybe the audio could be the bigger weakness than the display, but a good set of headphones will fix that.

Not a monitor, but wanted to let everyone else know to check Costco for clearance sales. I picked up a LG C2 48" for $599 before tax and it came with the additional 3 year extended warranty for free. The 55" was $899 but it was sold out at my local Costco.
