Re: Xbox Series X ($499) and Xbox Series S ($299) Release on November 10, Pre-Orders
Aaron Greenberg was on the RDX Podcast last night and was asked about showing gameplay running on Xbox Series X and he said that they should be showing gameplay at the end of the month. He also said that they will be announcing the official launch lineup for release as well as November/December at the end of the month.
Looking forward to the release date stuff since I want to know what games are releasing in November/December so I can make my final game list decisions.Comment

The best example of this is MLB The Show. So many wonder why HDR looks so bad on their TV. They think that because their TV is labeled as being HDR it automatically means that anything in HDR is gonna be amazing.
The sad issue here is that manufacturers slap the HDR on all their TV's full well knowing that said TV will not delivery true/good HDR performance. Average consumers unfortunately aren't very informed on what real/good HDR is, and how to obtain it. Number one is brightness. If your TV doesn't max out at at least 800 nits or so, more preferably 1000 nits or above, it's just not bright enough to bring out the true contrast and highlights of what HDR creates. The second factor is your TV must be 10-Bit color capable, and the third is it must have a wide color gamut.
A lot of say, $300 to $600, or even higher priced models, just don't have all of these factors.
If you are looking for a new TV to take advantage of the system's HDR capabilities, do some homework and look at TV's with all of those boxes checked. You're gonna spend a little more than you might have thought to get what you want. Rtings.com is a good place to start looking. Their TV ratings a very trusted.
I just don't wanna see anyone who plans on a new TV for their new Xbox, get one that won't give you full advantage of the system.Last edited by PVarck31; 10-07-2020, 07:03 PM.Comment

Not to get off topic, because this relates to people who plan on getting a new TV soon.

Gamestop and MS have partnered up.
http://news.gamestop.com/news-releas...ship-microsoft
From this twitter thread:
This is a win for Microsoft.
For Gamestop it's just a way to give their staff access to better systems / data so that rather than asking "Do you want to pre-order any games" they can now ask "I see you like Call of Duty, want to pre-order the new one?"
Anyway, here is the deal.
- GameStop will run both back end and in store solutions on Microsoft Cloud
- Staff will get Surface tablets to use in store / collab on 365 & Teams
- Gamestop will use these new upgrades and tools to offer a better experience for customers.
Microsoft is also working with Gamestop so that they offer All Access as a way to bring more users into the Xbox ecosystem.
Microsoft is closing down all its retail stores this year, so this partnership with GameStop is key to having a strong retail presence for All Access.
GameStop stock is up nearly 30% on the news.
GameStop says it will benefit from acquisition + lifetime revenue of Xbox customers, which is another way to say they'll be aiming to upsell + drive additional sales post launch using these new tools / customer data.
I wonder if long term this is a step towards things that were planned for the original Xbox One launch and Gamestop could get access to manage digital licensing in their stores.Comment

Re: Xbox Series X ($499) and Xbox Series S ($299) Release on November 10, Pre-Orders
This is one area, I will need help. I'm a PC guy, I look at TV tech once every 5 to 6 years when I go to buy a new TV. Me and the wife have agreed to make the step up from 65" to 75". So the last week or so has been researching.
I seen the TCL 6 series getting a lot of praise but I don't know anything about TCL & quality. The key sticking point for me, I'd like to keep it around $1,500. I find with how fast TV tech changes, its worst than a new car. Prices drop in as little as 6 months it seems. From the outside of keeping up, they seem like phones, two new models a year from all the big players.
If you have any suggestions that would be greatComment

I have a Sony X900F, Which is FALD TV and I really like it. It's a couple years old. I think there are two newer versions. The 950G, which is basically identical to the 900F in almost every way. Not sure about the newest model. Haven't been looking at TV's. I love mine though. Picture is amazing, and one thing Sony does really well is upscaling regular TV. Upscales to nearly 4K. The HDR is great. The TV does around 1000 nits at peak. So HDR looks great in games and movies. I believe the 950G is a tad brighter, but a tad worse in color reproduction.
Also Samsung QLED is nice. I think the Q80 is where you'd wanna be for the top features at your price point.
Also check the TV thread on here. Scott is an expert who works with TV's. He always is up for helping people. Of course there are other TVs out there similar in performance.
Check Rtings.com. They are very reliable when it comes to reviews.Last edited by PVarck31; 10-08-2020, 06:41 PM.Comment
