How much better are the sports games on PS5 than their PS4 counterparts? Any games really "wow" you? I've yet to upgrade; I'm hoping by upgrading into the 2nd or 3rd iteration for some of these yearly games that I'll be impressed, but I'm not holding my breath.

It is better, but nothing yet that screams a big leap. I'm just hoping when the sports games go current gen only, that we'll see a big leap.

I only played the Madden free weekends last couple years. I skipped 2k23 this year, after only playing 2k22 for a month. MLB is still likely going to be cross gen this upcoming year. Only sports game I was looking forward to was College Football. But that's mostly because it has been gone for a decade.

Overall, I have been disappointed in sports games as a whole since the start of the PS3/360 era. Yeah, there has been good games here and there. But when you compare the sports games to other genres, sports games are behind. Part of it has been annual releases. If a game isn't built on a strong foundation, it feels like it'll always be held back since devs don't have the time to fix it. Games like Madden could benefit from taking a step back and really fixing the core of the game. But you can't do that in a yearly cycle. I'm all for biannual releases. But that won't happen

I'm sure by that point we'll start hearing about how the hardware is on its last legs , diminishing returns, etc, and next-gen is when you'll REALLY see the difference lol. That's always how it is.

Which is disappointing because I remember that conversation the last generation. I do think there was a bigger jump from PS3/360 to Ps4/XB1 than to the current gen. I'm just hoping that next year is the last cross gen year and then that they really take a big jump. I feel there is so much untapped potential with the hardware

Was just coming in to post this! Sent to a few buddies, but if you miss out again...go the Direct route. 3 of my friends have gotten one in November.

That's how I got mine on release.

Yea I got lucky back in '20 right after release and just happened to login to Amazon at the right time and got one. I actually saw several used ones in store at my local game xchange a few weeks ago.
