ExtremeGamer, I couldn't find any cheap cables on the bestbuy & cc websites, but found these which look pretty good for the price:

Which ones do you use? I'm sure there are some even cheaper that do the same thing. What's this all about though - "male DVI to male HDMI connection." Is that what I'm looking for?

Do your video games (xbox preferably) lag in anyway while playing ?

And did you guys buy the Xbox High Definition Pack and was it worth it/show a very big difference or did it make games look worse due to lack of TRUE High Defintion cuz most games seem to be 480p ?

I have the same concern but for the ps2. I checked out the avforum and
saw quite a few complaints about lag on the Samsung DLP's.
JoeBoo what model Samsung do you own?

Heelfan, is that a Dell plasma you have?

I am looking into getting the dell for $2600 (that is with tax and shipping which are both free) or the Panasonic TH-42PHD7UY [http://reviews.cnet.com/Panasonic_TH...?tag=topprods].

I have heard in several reviews that the burn in effect in plasmas are really exaggerated. I am really only concerned about this with video games, but I never play video games for more than 2 hours in one day. I probably average about 5 hours in total a week. Do you think I have anything to worry about?

NO, mine is not a Dell. You don't have to worry about burn in with that amount of playing time either. I use mine more than that for gaming with no problems.

The Panasonic TV you linked above doesn't come with any speakers in case you didn't know that. The Dell has speakers and it has an HD tune built in.

Thanks for the heads up on the speakers, but I plan to use my surround sound system for my audio. I am still going back and forth as to whether I want HD tuner, No tuner, or Cable Card. I am pretty sure that I will use Time Warner HD or Direct TV HD, so I don't think I need the tuner built in.

What are the advantages for getting the tuner built in?

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread

Hi jrivera34! As someone who has put in a ton of time researching plasma tvs recently, let me give you some info that you might find helpful.

First of all, the TH-42PHD7UY that you are looking at is the professional series from Panasonic. They also have a consumer series line which is the TH-42PX50U and the TH-42PX500U. The main differences between them are the inputs, speakers, tuners, and that the consumer line use the 8th generation plasma panal, whereas the TH-42PHD7UY uses the 7th generation. (If you can wait, the 8th generation, TH-42PHD8UY, is coming out in the fall I believe).

The advantages a tuner has is that you can receive over-the-air broadcasts of HDTV. Mainly those are your local channels. You would still need to get an HDTV antenna tho. If you have directTV or HD Cable, then that really won't matter either. And if you have a stereo system, then you don't need the speakers either.

So, if money is an issue, and those other things aren't either, then you should just go for the TH-42PHD7UY, or if you can wait, the TH-42PHD8UY. It should probably be a bit cheaper as well.

Oh, and in case you are wondering, I recently purchased the TH-50PX500U. It should be coming tomorrow. I'm so pumped.

If you need any more information, I have a ton of links and material that you can read that will give you a better feel for your purchase. It's a good chunk of change, and I'm sure you want it to be well spent. Good luck.

They weren't on the website, I found them in store, made by Acoustic Research.

I'm trying to remember here. I think it's Female DVI to Male HDMI, but I could be wrong. I'm almost positive that's what you are looking for. I'll check when I get home from work later tonight.

Just curious if anyone watched the N.O. @ N.E. last night (HDTV), I was getting major break up near the end, anyone else experience this?

?, what's with the audio digital optical cable for the XBoX hd adaptor? will the give you the 5.1 ss?

i hooked mine up and really didn't notice a difference...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

you bought an optical cable seperately?

                                It should give you 5.1
