This power strip even has coax inputs and outputs so you can take the sat or cable line from outside to filter it before running it to the sat or cable box. I am sure yo ucan find one a little cheaper but for me it was worth it.

wow, thx bro. and i always thought the bb guy were pulling my leg. how does it help the hd pic quality??...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Shoud not make any difference positive or negative. I did not notcie any change once I had the power strip. Just did not have that white line rolling through it.

does anyone have any info on the picture sound quality when using a dvi cable with the hdtv cable box? i have the dvi input on my tv and am currently using the component cables, but if it would look better with the dvi, i'd likely get the cables.
          thanks

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but it really depends. I have a DVI cable from my HDTV cable box to my TV and I like the picture. I tried both component and DVI and switched inputs comparing. The cable guy thought the component looked better, I thought the DVI looked better. I stuck with the DVI.

DVI doesn't handle audio (only HDMI). If you used a DVI cable for video you'd still need a digital optical cable for audio to get digital audio.

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread

I'm still browsing for small, cheap LCD HDTVs. I stumbled upon this one:

                http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...&s=electronics

This is a great size for me. I would like something with HD support up to 720p, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, etc. Does this look good, or should I do more browsing? I mean, I can get this TV new at $769.00!

                Sound good, or?

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread

Not sure how many people are still reading this thread but I figure it might be worthwhile to bounce a few questions about my new 42" Samsung DLP TV.

We have the following connected to it:

Component 1: Comcast Digital Cable Box, connected to the TV with the RGB cables and Red/White audio
Component 2: DVD player connected to the TV with RGB cables, and the DVD audio going directly to my receiver via an Optical cable.
S-Video 1: Xbox connected with S-Video from the HD AV pack.
Cable: regular coax cable from the cable box to the TV (non HD)
Audio Out: to my receiver for surround sound while watching cable or playing Xbox...

                  Now onto my questions:

                  1. Cannot activate PiP in any mode at all, and I'd love to be able to watch a game in one window and play Xbox in another if possible...Can this be done?

                  2. Closed captioning not working (not even an option to turn on) while in Component 1 mode.

                  3. Xbox seems to lag a bit onscreen once I press the buttons. Should I just force myself to get used to this, or should it be plugged into the TV in another manner?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me out!

your lagging because your hooked up to svideo, Do it proper and get you a component hookup splitter box for 6 bucks at LIK-SANG. If I were you I would free up that component Jack for the Xbox and hook up the comcast Box to a DVI cable for better picture quality (they can be had for 10 bucks at ebay new).

I'm not sure if this is your problem, but this is what restricts the PiP on my TV. My cable box, XBox, Gamecube, PS2, and DVD player are all outputting a minimum of a 480p signal or the progressive scan modes through either component cables or a DVI. When this is happening, I cannot get PiP to work and I don't believe I am suppose to be able to. If I switch any of those devices to output 480i through either settings on the boxes or cables, like an S-video, I can use my PiP. Maybe that is your situation as well. Maybe with other types of TVs nowadays, you can still do PiP when you are watching hi-def or something with progressive scan. My TV is getting out of date these days I guess, it's a rear projection CRT, but it's 65" so I'm not replacing it. But for me, I cannot use my PiP if I am watching a signal of at least 480p or progressive scan stuff. I'm not sure of the technical reasons of why this is, or why this is for my TV, it just is. Maybe that helps you explain it some, I don't know.

As for the close captioning, if you are talking about when you are watching TV, make sure you are turning on the CC for the cable box, not the TV. For mine, once again, if I press the CC button on my TV remote, nothing happens. I have to go to the settings of my cable box and turn on its CC. But seeing that you say it only happens when you are in Component 1 mode, makes me think this isn't your problem.

To add on to what they said, most HDTV's, not all, will allow for PIP but not from more than 1 component input. For example I can watch the HD set top box and then put pip to a cable line running directly into the tv, but I cannout watch the HD box and use PIP for the xbox. My tv does split screen, not PIP and component sources can only be viewed on the right screen. The left screen is for non-component hook ups. I have HD cable and then used a multi-switch to run a second cable straight to the TV so I can at least take advantage of the two screens during gamedays.

                              Got it.
So before my cable even hits my cable box, I should split it and run that straight to the TV, which would allow me to watch (non-HD) on the PIP window and HD on the main one? Sweet.
