Ha, I just found it too.

In order to get Hi-Def channels, like lets say the four big networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, & FOX), I'd have to have some type of hi-def cable or satiellite correct, picking them up on antennae wouldn't work right?
Rabbit ears will do fine my friend.. Ignore the HDTV antenna's.. No such thing as a HD antenna.. Just marketing BS..(I use a cheap 15.00 dollar anntena from Radio shack) Any antenna will do.. & the Tuner will scan for channels in your area.. I seen the Sanyo for cheaper then what walmart has it for.. Try pricegrabbers.com. MY HD Tuner picked up like 15 channels.. But only PBS..CBS..HDNET(Kron)..NBC..FOX has HD broadcast as of now..

Thanks. If I get it a Wal-Mart I'll get 10% off but I'll check around first see if I can find it for around 500 or whatever.

          lil help...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Hey guys. I need some advice on a plasma tv to get. Now, I know that most of you guys would suggest getting either a CRT (which isn't large enough), or LCD/DLP/etc rear projection (can't hang on the wall to save space), but those aren't really options for me. So, knowing that, does anyone have any suggestions?

I am looking for a 50" plasma. I've read a lot about Panasonics. And while doing so, read a good amount on Phillips. Those two seem to be ahead of the plasma game by a bit. That being said, I still don't know what to get.

I think it might be either
              Panasonic TH-50PHD7UY
              Panasonic TH50PX500U

I'm open to anything else that's good tho. If anyone has any suggestions, recommendations, or advice, it would much appreciated. Thanks.

The TH-50PHD7UY is a popular one and has one of the best pictures. It doesn't have any built in tuners or speakers so you will have to spend extra $$ to get it all set up.

Here is one to consider: http://www.tvauthority.com/Plasma-TV...s-50PF9956.asp

everything you need. Just hook up a regular antenna to recieve over the air HD channels.

I've been told to avoid plasma.

I think you're better off going with LCD for overall quality and durability.

Well Plasma uses gas which may leak out over time. I also believe Plasma is the most expensive.

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread

Well, I've done a lot of research into HDTVs and the positives and negatives of each. I've been looking since March. Here is what I found and what fits for me.

                          Plasma
+ Save floor space due to hanging
                          + Amazing picture, brightness
+ Improved contrast, life expectancy, and burn-in issues (tho I won't be playing games on it, just watching TV and movies)
                          + Wide angle for viewing
                          + Overall, just plain pimp!

                          - Pricey
                          - Gas leak? Tho I haven't heard that too often
                          - Not as big as others can get

                          LCD/DLP
                          + Cheaper
                          + Less issue for burn-in
+ Can get a larger TV

                          - Need to replace bulbs (not that big of an issue, cause it's cheaper than getting a new TV)
                          - Takes up space

So, although Plasmas aren't the most durable or cost-effective solution, I think it is what fits me the best right now. Some more research is needed before I do anything.

Does anyone own a plasma here?

Plasmas don't leak. And Plasmas last a very long time, about the same as a regular CRT tv. You should get 15-20 years out of it. I don't think I have ever kept a tv that long anyway.

Let me know if you get on Shakobe, I can show you where to get a cheap wall mount for it. I have a 42" Plasma hanging on our bedroom wall. I have had it for 2 years and love it.

Main reason I wanted one is for space (didn't have room for anything in our bedroom) and the fact that I think they are very cool.

                                That is just beautiful.

As soon as I decide what to get, I'll hit u up to see where to get a good cheap wall mount. I have to make sure that the wall I want to hang it on can even hold it first tho. It's gonna go over the fireplace, which looks to be brick. Or it could just be the facade. Not too sure.
