I have heard good things about LG, more-less a new company that is looking for some market share so you may end up paying less for more.

looks great on the 360..No lag or ghosting..Bright picture..Vivid colors.. my only complaint is, when used as a monitor the resolution is 1280X768 so there are black bars on the sides, top, & bottom...When I press zoom I encounter overscan..

DOes anyone know how a tv comes when you order it online. Meaning does it come UPs, USPS, Fed Ex or other. I never ordered something this big online. Does the postal guy knock on my door and rolls in a tv on his dolly and do they take it out of the box for you?

I ordered my DLP online. It was 46" and in a big box.

To be honest, I have no idea what type of shipping company was used. None of the mainstream one's. It came in a big white truck with an automatic lift gate in the back and the guy rolled it right into my house (I took off work the day it was supposed to arrive). I helped him unload it from the truck onto his dolly as they only sent one guy and I didn't want him tossing it around.

It seemed like the company I ordered it from delivered it with their own vehicles. I'm in Pittsburgh and ordered it from a company in NY (if my memory is correct).

I had the option of paying more money for them to take it out of the box and dispose of the box/packaging, but I did it myself. I also wanted to keep the box/packaging for later use (ie: when I move into another house in a few years).

There are no incompatibilities with Comcast boxes and certain types of TVs that I know of...it could have been that the guy who installed it for you did not adjust the menu on the box properly. If it were a Cable Card instead of a box, maybe, since the technology is not perfected...but Comcast and Samsung have partnered together for future offerings (custom set top boxes being one product), you shouldn't have to worry about something like that happening again.

[quote=Scrapps]Well, I did some shopping yesterday. You are correct. The picture on the Sonys and Samsungs were quite impressive. Does anyone have any thoughts on LG? I saw some that appeared quite nice, yet my knowledge is very limited. Would you or anyone else have any opinion on the following two models?

              LG 30FS4D
              Samsung TXS3082WH

Also, can anyone provide a few manufacturers that I would want to avoid at all costs?

              I would appreciate any insight

Did they roll the Tv into the room you wanted it in or just near the door, b/c the Tv I most likley get is pretty heavy.

They rolled it into the room. However, it was only a short walk from the front door to that room so it wasn't really too much extra. If you have to go up/down stairs, I'm not sure if they'd handle that or not.

Yeah, my TV was 80-90 lbs. If you're getting one of those large CRT's (200+ lbs), that's going to be tough to move at all.

The Tv I want to get is factory renwed and the company told me that it could have scratches and there is no way on there part to find out which tv has scratches on it. I don't mind if it has been out of the box before, but I don't want to spend 500 dollars on a tv that has scratches. Have any of you guys bought a tv that has been factory renewed and if you have what kind of condition was the Tv when you got it?

Yep me and my friend move my CRT, that was a beast, I thought it would be heavier though. It was just awkward to carry. I couldn't get it through the door, so I cut the box in the garage and carry it in that way. The one thing that is nice is a bought the matching stand and that is real easy to move the TV.

I know nothing when it comes to TV, but I wouldn't recommend buying it like that or a floor model, but that is just me!

I'm leasing a HD DVR from Cox Cable which has a 50 hour capacity but doesn't spell out how much space is gobbled up by high def recording. The manual just says "the exact amount of programming varies on whether the show is high def, standard def digital, or analog. In general how much more space is used by high def VS standard def?

JB - Tough to tell as my HD DVR doesn't show this info in size, but in % of total capacity.

HD shows definately suck up more space. Maybe 5-10% of total capacity more than standard def shows? That seems to be the amount of free space that becomes available after I delete an HD program compared to a standard def program.

With that said, I've only been up to 75% full on mine. That's with standard and HD shows.

I just pick up a HDTV the other day and even though I don't have Hd through my cable, it does have a built in tuner. The pictue is amazing in hd. I was watching some stuff on NBC & Fox and it looked amazing. I can't wait to see how the NBA Finals looks on ABC HD this Thursday.
