they could be running this season backwards. The season premiere that we just saw (episode 66, season 6) could actually be the season finale.

...then his uncle shoots him in the very same episode. lol

Right when he said that all I could think of is his cousin, Tony B, going rogue and getting involved with the NY drama last year too.

edit: I really don't think they're running the season backwards. Their were zero things that were left open for them to run it backwards if you know what I mean. Their weren't any gaping loopholes that we didn't understand, pretty much everything made sense.

I read what the upcoming show is about in the TV guide that my comcast receiver provides and it says something along the lines of....Tony has trouble with a west coast operation....blah, blah, blah for the rest.

So I guess he is out of the hospital early in the next episode and is already worrying about something on the west coast??? It doesn't make sense. Maybe the shooting backwards thing is looking more real by the minute?

I don't know, but I can't wait until next Sunday.

i dont know. Chris is a captain, Janice has a baby all of a sudden, Janice's husband is suddenly in to trains, Johnny has been in jail for a year (and what is the baby shower picture about?), Gene became an informant, one of the FBI agents has been in Pakistan, etc...

a lot of stuff has happened that we didnt see "develop", maybe it all happened in the 2 year layoff from last season, or maybe it all develops this season?

They may not be running the season backwards (although that is possible), episode 66 could have been the season finale (or maybe it wasnt), and next week's episode could be the true season premiere? I cant wait until next episode

I think it's just that there was a fairly big time lapse in between seasons, not that they are going to go backwards. The season finale will be the series finale, and remember, there will be 12 eps now, and then another break until January 2007 when the remaining 8 air. Why would they go backwards, and then make everyone wait half a year to see what amounts to the first 8 episodes of the season, when everyone by then would no doubt know that they are going in reverse?

Doesn't make any sense at all. They theoretically could go in reverse just for this 12 episode run, and then have the remaining 8 be in real time after Tony is dead, but why would they not have Tony around for the final 8 shows and the climax of the series? That would be a really weak way to end what has been a great show.

I read in TV Guide that they said the series was going to pick up in the exact same time fram that lapsed since the last new episode. About 18 months. That's why so much had changed.

usually if you're going to "Tarrentino" something, you usually start with a bang like in Reservoir Dogs were you don't know what the hell is going on. Who is screaming in the car? Where are they going? What were they doing?

                  Know what I mean?

So Gene couldn't retire but what about Tony B (Steve Buscemi) and his cellmate (Angela-the guy that Philly and his now dead brother Billy wacked in Philly's car trunk). Angela would have been alive if he retired and Tony B. had no pressure to join the family-he was on his way to being a masseuse until he screwed up. I guess when you do some hard time (both did 20 years I think) you have options.

Tony (Soprano) felt guilty about Tony Blundetto doing time*, so he never pressured him to get back in. Not only that, but even if he didn't feel the burden of guilt, Tony B. did the time--which grants a few options, like you said.

                          * - The story is that Tony had a panic attack on the way to a job he was supposed to be doing with Tony B. The job was the one that got Tony B. locked up, so to save face, Tony (Soprano) made up a story about being mugged by some black guys.

Right, Tony S. confessed to Tony B. over the phone, after Tony B. went on the lam for killing Philly's brother.

I noticed in the credits, Meadow is back to being called Jamie-Lynn Sigler instead of DiScala. I checked on IMDB and she has filed for divorce. Pretty young to be divorced.
