lol that was a TERRIBLE ending. None of this "open to interpretation" garbage... it was a cop out if you ask me.

Can you imagine if Heroes ended like this? Lost? Give me a break!

Now that's going a little far. I still think Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere rank ahead of The Sopranos in terms of greatest drama ever.

I've seen a handful of episodes of both of these series and don't know how you can make that comparison.

Did you watch them from beginning to end? I think The Sopranos is a great show, but I enjoyed those two more.

So here is what I found out. The guy at the bar is also credited as Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito. That wasn't that long ago. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil. Phil's brother Nikki Senior was killed in 1976 in a car accident. Absolutely Genius!!!! David Chase is truly rewarding the true fans who pay attention to detail.

So the point would have been that life continues and we may never know the end of the Sopranos. But if you pay attention to the history, you will find that all the answers lie in the characters in the restaurant. The trucker was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2. Remember the DVD players? The trucker had to identify the body. The boy scouts were in the train store and the brothas at the end were the ones who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear (was that season 2 or 3?).

Absolutely incredible!!!! There were three people in the restaurant who had reason to kill Tony and then it just ends. This was Chase's way of proving that he will not escape his past. It will not go on forever despite that he would like it to "don't stop". Not the fans!!! Tony would like it to keep going but just as we have to say goodbye, so does he. No more Tony and I guess we are supposed to be happy that Meadow didn't get clipped as well (she would have been between the shooter and Tony) since she is the only one worth a crap in that family.

Anyone remember these guys from past season or is this guy full of it?

the mystery Italian guy has never been in the Sopranos or any TV show before. He is a local pizza shop owner who got a bit role. that is all.

After eight years and 86 episodes, the ultimate fate of fictional New Jersey crime boss Tony Soprano might be determined by a pizza shop owner from Penndel.

Paolo Colandrea, owner of Paul's Penndel Pizza, last month filmed a potentially pivotal scene for the final episode of “The Sopranos,” the groundbreaking HBO mob drama that says goodbye at 9 Sunday night.

Colandrea, 47, describes his role as simply “mystery man,” a guy who walks into a diner and locks eyes ominously with Tony, who's sitting at a table with wife, Carmela, and son, A.J. Colandrea sits down at the counter, stares at Tony again, gets up to go the bathroom, and ...

He can't say what happens next. But even if he could, it might not mean a thing.

“Sopranos” creator David Chase reportedly filmed three different endings to ensure secrecy. Colandrea, who spent 18 hours on the set one day and 10 hours two weeks later, doesn't even know if his scene will appear.

“I don't know. Nobody knows,” the charming Italian said while sitting in the restaurant he's owned since emigrating from Naples in 1978. “They keep it so closed, not even the cast knows all that's going to happen. I can assume, but I don't know.”

Colandrea, who doesn't have any lines, filmed his scene at Holsten's Diner in Bloomfield, N.J. Off camera, he said he mingled with series stars James Gandolfini (Tony) and Edie Falco (Carmela) and met Robert Iler (A.J.) and Chase. During his first day of filming, he shared a sushi dinner with Gandolfini, Falco and the crew.

“He's such a nice guy, just an unbelievable person,” Colandrea says of Gandolfini. “And Edie Falco, she's the sweetest woman you ever want to meet.”

Colandrea, who earned more than $3,000 (before taxes) for his role, also saw Jamie-Lynn Sigler (Meadow) on the set but didn't talk to her.

“She's so gorgeous,” he said. “She has bodyguards with her, but I don't blame her.”

So how does a pizza shop owner with no previous acting experience land a role on the final episode of the most acclaimed program in cable television history?


Right place, right face, really.

Earlier this spring, Eileen DeNobile, owner of the Lawrenceville, N.J.-based Noble Talent Management, was looking for an Italian man, about 6 feet tall, between the ages of 30 and 50, for a part on “The Sopranos.” She stopped into Penndel Pizza for dinner one evening, saw the framed photo of Colandrea pouring a glass of wine and thought she might have found her man.

“That's authentic Italian all the way,” said DeNobile, who already knew Colandrea casually. “He certainly looks the part. Plus, we were looking for a person easy to work with, and he's got a great personality, very bubbly.”

DeNobile sent the photo and a recommendation to HBO, and Colandrea was invited to audition in New York City, along with 29 others. The audition consisted of performing the actual role as it appeared in the script.

A few days later, Chase called Colandrea and asked him to come to North Jersey for a costume fitting.

The part was his.

“It's unbelievable,” said Colandrea, a fan of the show since its debut in 1999. “For an Italian, it's the experience of a lifetime to be on "The Sopranos.' ”

Colandrea, a single father of two daughters, said he plans to watch Sunday's episode with about 100 friends and family members at a cousin's house in Ewing. (“I have to cook for all of them,” he said, smiling.)

Meanwhile, he said, “half of Italy” is waiting to hear what happens Sunday night.

And if his scene ends up on the cutting-room floor?

“Everyone knows there's nothing I can do, that it's out of my power,” Colandrea said. “But I'm thinking, "Why make me go up again after two weeks if they're not going to use me?' I'm keeping my fingers crossed.”

Well I wonder if we will ever see the different endings. Maybe they will put them on the DVD and jack up the price knowing everyone will want to see it?

I thought it was a brilliant ending. Did you note the words to the song?

With the camera on Carmella: "Just a small town girl living in a lonely world...she took the midnight train going anywhere."

Then Tony: "Just a city boy......he took the midnight train going anywhere."

Then on Tony again: "Working hard to get his fill (get it? PHIL!)"

Lastly on Tony: "Paying anything to roll the dice (gambling problem) just one more time."

And finally: "..the movie never ends, it goes on, and on, and on, and on."

In the restaurant, there were the boy scouts from the train station when Bobby got shot, the guy who had to identify his son's body after the Sopranos killed him a long time ago, and the two black guys that tried to kill Tony and grazed his ear.

The music got louder and I got tenser by the second. Chase is brilliant at controlling the emotions of the viewer.

Two interpretations:

1. Tony will always be surrounded by danger, though his family remains insulated from it by their own ignorance. Tony's eyes are darting around the room, as he's grown accustomed.

2. When the camera went blank, did a bomb go off? Did Tony get it in the head? (Why was Meadow so stressed when she ran in?) Or as stated, did WE get whacked?

I thought it was a terrific ending, and I'm glad Chase didn't settle for the lowest common denominator ending and turn it into the typical mob movie climax. This series has never been about the mob as much as it's been about family sticking together through anything.

Yeah, why isn't that being picked apart? First, after commuting back and forth to the city for years, she couldn't get a clean angle while parking. Then, she's in a hurry to get inside the diner. Maybe she was rushing because she was late.

Or..there's something else..

The cat doesn't represent Adrianna only. It's also Big P#SSY. Tony personally killed Chris and BP. Plus, Tony kept calling the cat "big guy".

As I've said earlier, the cat doesn't represent nothing more then a cat. Reason it kept staring at Chris's picture is because it showed he would have became a rat if he lived on.

Not to mention it caught a rat earlier in the morning getting Tony's approval and later when talking with Paulie Tony said the kept staring at the picture because there is a "dead rat" behind the wall probably.

Totally different shows. The Sopranos is more about the subtle abstract meanings of stuff and interpretation. All that psychology stuff is pretty much open ended for interpretation. If Lost ended this way, it would be terrible, but The Sopranos didn't have a ton of crazy **** to explain, it was just simply a show about a family and their day to day life, while having a mob boss as the father.

Totally different shows. The Sopranos is more about the subtle abstract meanings of stuff and interpretation. All that psychology stuff is pretty much open ended for interpretation. If Lost ended this way, it would be terrible, but The Sopranos didn't have a ton of crazy **** to explain, it was just simply a show about a family and their day to day life, while having a mob boss as the father.
