Re: Sopranos Season 6 **Warning for finale spoilers**
Yeah, I can totally understand that, and you have a point.
I didn't see it and don't watch the show, I'm just going off of everyone's comments.
I've read where some say the ending was genius, and other's hated it. It's going to be one of those love it/hate it type.
But if there's a movie in 3 years, does that totally take away from the ending if you consider it genius or can you accept that there's still a lot of money that can be made off of Tony Soprano.
If a movie or mini-series comes about all this, I'm all for it and I won't look at this ending any different than I am today.
To understand the ending, I think that you have to understand the entire series from Season 1 to Season 6 as a whole. It all started with family and as time went by Tony and his family were torn apart by many problems over the years. His second family was also taken apart piece by piece over the years either by his own hands or problems with the NY crew. Finally this past season, slowly we were seeing Tony and his family start to come together again in pieces. Were left at the end with Tony and his family being a family again in the restaurant with the imposing dangers that lie when he is in public. Chase really built up the intensity from 2 episodes ago and it just kept on steamrolling to the end of the finale.
I don't want to be rude, but there are many on here that haven't watch a single episode or parts of the show and judging the finale. Expectations were rather high that we would get a full blown war here in this episode, but those that have watched this show since its inception this has been more about story than anything else.
I think that Chase's vision changed once the show became popular, but to understand this entire series wouldn't it be fair to judge this based on having watch all 6 seasons (7 technically LOL!)? It's like some of you reading only the ending chapter of a book not having read the entire book and then coming here to give your opinion. I think Chase meant for this ending to be better understood for the longtime fans of the series that have watched from the beginning.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 06-11-2007, 10:12 AM.Comment

I'm one of those few that thought this ending was great after a second viewing last night. Did I particularly care for the black screen and silence at the end, not really. It left things open for our imagination to ponder as to what may have happened or was going to happen.
If a movie or mini-series comes about all this, I'm all for it and I won't look at this ending any different than I am today.

I think being an outsider to the last 3 seasons, and reading the impressions has really made this interesting to me. I'm enjoying the finale more not even seeing it..LOLComment

Re: Sopranos Season 6 **Warning for finale spoilers**
(got this from another board, the HBO ones...)
So here is what I found out. The guy at the bar is also credited as Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito. That wasn't that long ago. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil. Phil's brother Nikki Senior was killed in 1976 in a car accident. Absolutely Genius!!!! David Chase is truly rewarding the true fans who pay attention to detail.
So the point would have been that life continues and we may never know the end of the Sopranos. But if you pay attention to the history, you will find that all the answers lie in the characters in the restaurant. The trucker was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2. Remember the DVD players? The trucker had to identify the body. The boy scouts were in the train store and the brothas at the end were the ones who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear (was that season 2 or 3?).
Absolutely incredible!!!! There were three people in the restaurant who had reason to kill Tony and then it just ends. This was Chase's way of proving that he will not escape his past. It will not go on forever despite that he would like it to "don't stop". Not the fans!!! Tony would like it to keep going but just as we have to say goodbye, so does he. No more Tony and I guess we are supposed to be happy that Meadow didn't get clipped as well (she would have been between the shooter and Tony) since she is the only one worth a crap in that family.
Anyone remember these guys from past season or is this guy full of it?

So you're not in the camp that he might have been shot, you believe it was us, the viewer, who was whacked and don't get to see his life anymore per say.
I think being an outsider to the last 3 seasons, and reading the impressions has really made this interesting to me. I'm enjoying the finale more not even seeing it..LOL
Half of me says that Tony was going to get whacked by the Italian dude and a part of me says that they were showing Tony sitting there with his family as if they were a family again while there is many imposing dangers that could take him or the family out at any moment.
My wife and mother-in-law didn't like the ending at all and thought that it ended in a way that it didn't do the show justice. I guess its how we perceive things.
EG, if you get a chance to see the finale I suggest checking it out. It was put together fairly well if you ask me. Like you stated about The Shield season ending the other night, many didn't like it. I thought it was great as it sets things up for a grander stage in the final season.Comment

Re: Sopranos Season 6 **Warning for finale spoilers**
Lots of great discussion on this. I definitely like the ending more, as we take the time to digest the entire series. Tony's inner circle is decimated, and the NJ family is vulnerable. Now, Tony's huddling with his family and trying to get things back on track. All the while, the Feds are closing in on him and he's never quite sure what's coming next.XBL: Mean Greene

Re: Sopranos Season 6 **Warning for finale spoilers**
This is an easy one. I DID TRY to watch the show. I am never one to judge anything from one viewing. When I got word from my friends about the show, I watched most of the 2nd season. That was enough for me to get the flavor of things. I may not understand the allure of the show, but I am NOT going to criticize anyone for watching. It's only entertainment, right?

Fair enough.
Just let it be known that from Season 3 on, the show's tone changes a bit.
Seasons 1-3 are the most "gangster film fan" friendly, while moments starting with 3 setup more cerebral character development.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment

Re: Sopranos Season 6 **Warning for finale spoilers**
I don't believe anybody was whacked in the closing scene. The two Journey songs on the jukebox were "Don't Stop Believing" and "Any Way You Want It." Chase left the future of Soprano family up to us, the viewers, to decide. The show has been all about life and trials and tribulations. The mob stuff was just a metaphor. Tony's life didn't just end with the series finale, we just couldn't see it anymore.
The statement about "you never see it coming," isn't just about getting whacked. It's also how things happen in life. You get blindsided by a great many things that have nothing to do with being killed. We never saw it coming that our connection was just severed without fanfare, without resolution.
Life goes on.Comment

Re: Sopranos Season 6 **Warning for finale spoilers**
I got it!! I now know exactly what was behind those last few moments! It took me a while to come up with it, but after talking to folks at work, this HAS to be what it really meant.
You see, when Tony is sitting at the table and Meadow is on her way in,Comment
