This is why him being shot makes the most sense, because of the screen immediately going black, as has been stated in the foreshadowing in the last couple of eps.

Did anyone else see Tony walk into the diner and then magically appear in the booth? I thought he was having a dream at first, seeing himself. Just a really weird ending.

Very interesting that someone posted it on HBO.com. I think the ending was just left open for our own imagination.

Did anyone else notice in the last scene the camera focused on at least half a dozen different patrons? What I think the writers were trying to portray is in Tony's line of business, no one is who they seem and "it" could come from anywhere at anytime. Dont stop living and "dont stop believing" until its over.

im upset a dream sequence of Christopher coming back to life and killing Tony with a cleaver wasnt included ...but overall it was a very good episode. It exceeded my expectations. I thought it might be corny and cliche because the show had become so big, but it wasnt. The ending was vintage sopranos.

btw, the cat was Adrianna reincarnated ( jk but that was some funny ish with Paulie and the cat)

Cool that those beach scenes were filmed in the town I was born in...Long Branch, New Jersey.

I originally thought HBO blacked out at the very end. To me, the ending was perfect. The show constantly focused so much on life, itself. Tony's life doesn't end because of the series finale. It continues to go on; we're just not able to see it anymore. Considering that most things in life aren't tied up in a neat little bow, I found the end to be very fitting. It was like a message from David Chase saying, "Go back to your life now, Tony's going on with his."

Of course, the assassination theory is so very accurate, as well.

I think it's best for each of us to write or own ending. Maybe the feds bust in and take him away. Maybe one of the twelve guys in the diner shoots him. Maybe Meadow announces she's pregnant. Maybe Tony has a heart attack and dies at the table. The possibilities are endless and while it's not satisfying, it's truer to life.

Damn... what a ride at the end it was but no ending really pissed me off as a big time Sopranos fan.

The 3/4 second black screen was kind of like fill in the blank to what happens next.

                  Oh well...

Way too much AJ in this entire season 6 part 2.

                    New theory:

                    We got wacked.

In this series, one of the best aspects of it was that at any given time, no matter how important to the story a character may be, he or she could be wacked at any time. And almost everytime someone got killed off, it was a shock.

Well...David Chase did it again. This time though, WE were the ones who were killed off. We got wacked. Our role in this saga is now over. In the blink of an eye, just like Bobby said to Tony on the boat in the first episode of this half of Season 6, we're gone.

                    Thoughts?

Not a bad way of looking at it. Although not many will see it that way.

That's by the far the best "theory" I've read and I like it.

Thats clever and would be pretty deep of the director and writers to think of. I do think they hinted a tad too much that Tony was killed, arrested or whatever to sell that route,
but i do like the thinking outside the box on it.

EXCELLENT way to end the series, and I think this is a great theory.

I am so happy right now because most endings are so disappointing and this was just great.

on a side note although i was just as tense as the rest of you guys, i couldnt see tony being killed there. if paulie showed up then yeah , by the way he was acting. but the dude at the counter, the guy in the hat,etc it wouldnt make any sense since phil was dead. the fed idea does make sense but i wasnt thinking that way at the time.
i was also thinkiing meadow might get hit by a car or something, etc strange sequesnce if u ask me.

the thing that bothers me is that although things were left wide open, pauilie, sil alive or dead, the pending court case, the strange relationship with the fed, aj being crazy, the actors in the show, gandolfini to be precise doesnt apper they would be interested in a movie or doing the sopranos anymore.

money talks but it appears everyone is content with the show ending and kind of just went their own way, etc. idk but i feel somewhat ripped off but at the same time, the show did entertain me for a long time.
Carlo. He took over as captain after Vito got killed. He is also the guy that cut that NY guy up with Sil.

Watching this episode a second time, you learn to appreciate all of the character development and the time they spent with everyone. Chase seems to have gone with many parts throughout this whole episode with intensity. Look at how Patsy gave Tony that look when Tony made that comment about Jason. Even Paulie looked suspicious a few times times during the episode. ****, I thought that Paulie was setting Tony up at first with the whole Carlo missing deal?

One plothole. How could AJ joined the military with recently being in psychiatric help? When they did a background check wouldn't he not get in correct once they found out?

I also wonder, when Agent Harris says that "We Got Him" after he hears that Phil is dead............did he mean Phil or Tony? Was Harris setting Tony up?

We never find out about the NY Snitch, unless it was Butch?

It was a good ending, and either at the end Tony was killed as the screen went black and the music stopped meaning that life had ended for Tony or were left with a first person view from Tony's eyes as he is always on guard with who will kill him next. Or could Tony have had one of his blackouts?
