Yeah, dude. Totally threw me off when I went up there for the first time. I parked at the gas station, got out of my car, walked over to the pump, and some big Mexican dude came running and yelling at me to get away from the pump. I was like, "Uhh...dude....I know how to do it." He told me I wasn't allowed.

According to the New York Post:

Matt Servitto, who played FBI Special Agent Harris, said Chase briefly kept the camera rolling after what amounted to Tony's final moment on screen.... Meadow got into the diner, sat down.... The menacing 'Members only' jacket-wearing man at the counter was a little bit more in play, and I think she's sitting there with the family kind of all together.... and all of a sudden, the menacing man gets up, starts walking toward their booth. End of Show.

The scene cut as the guy was advancing toward him as if he was about to shoot Tony.

THAT would have been a better ending, not the way Chase did it. Still a bit of a cop out, but I'm sure fans wouldn't have been as much in an uproar as they are now.

Many think Chase sold out, with the hopes of other mini-shows and the possible movie.

What is even better is when the people from New Jersey come to states where there are practically no full service stations. My wife used to work at a gas station and would tell me about people pulling up to the gas station and sitting in the car for upwards of 10 minutes before they realized that no one was coming out to help them.

She even had to show a woman how to pump gas one time.

Interesting bit of news from the Washington Post:

In conclusion, for all you "Sopranos" fans who speculated Tony died when that last scene went black because those people in Holsten's were various characters from the series' past who had tried to do in our Tony, you are mistaken, according to the HBO rep.

And, if you are hoping to weigh the final scene that aired against the two alternative endings, that will never happen because, contrary to reports, there were no alternative endings shot, the HBO rep said.

I had a chick pump gas for me in Canada and I had no idea what was going on, I was 17 we went there to camp and I needed gas to get back across the border.

The "fill in your own ending" thing is terrible. We watch TV and film and read books and short stories because we want to hear a captivating story from someone who crafts interesting stories. I don't watch TV to make my own stories, I watch it because it is a time to relax and enjoy great storytelling.

Imagine if your friend was telling you a story about what happened to him the other day only to tell you to fill in your own ending. Where's the suspense and intrigue in that? Good stories are unpredictable. They are exciting because you don't know what is going to happen next. If I fill in my own ending, obviously I am going to know how it ends because I thought of it. Where's the excitement in that?

However, I don't really think this ending is a fill in your own type ending. It is just saying that we can't watch what happens in Sopranoland anymore. The Sopranos carry on.

I don't think it is a fill in your own ending, I just think people are filling it in because they want to.
The show ends with the Sopranos alive and well.

It's as simple as that. I'm being a little bold with this statement but I think the true Soprano fan did not want to see Tony die. I think there were a lot of casual viewers (like the smug Dan Patrick) who didn't really care about the character who were hoping to see him get whacked at the very end. For those that invested little in the show they display outrage at the so called "fill in your own blank" ending, because they finally tuned in to see a historic and spectacular death of a TV icon. For the record Patrick is not a Soprano fan but liked the ending. That's just my take and it doesn't apply to everybody.

Yeah I'm a huge fan and really didn't want my last memory of the show to be Tony dying. After he killed Chris I wanted him dead, but going into the last show I wanted him to live.

Not that I would be in favor of killing anyone but in the spirit of the show I thought he was justified in whacking Chris.
