Yeah, most Doom is not stuff you can around roll around town to. Me personally though, I listen to music in a lot more places than my car so I love to listen to Doom.

I don't only listen to music in my car and I can't stand doom either way. his flow is terrible, he's weird just to be weird, he talks about nothing, and his montone voice is annoying as hell.

                  A Tribute to Lisa Bonet.

Also, since you like Murs, check out this song by DJ Z-Trip: Breakfast Club. Absolute classic.

Like I said man, it's a love or hate thing. Personally, I really enjoy Doom but I can see how another person would hate the music. It's all personal preference. By the way, I highly doubt he's weird just to be weird (you say this as if it's a marketing ploy or something). I think that's just how he is. Somebody correct me here, but I believe he was rapping with his brother, and his brother tragically died (can't remember how) and that's when he started to become MF Doom and writing stuff that was considered weird and different.

I have a lot of recommendations. I am not sure what sound you're looking for, but as a huge Talib myself, here's some of my favorite stuff (artist name first and comments afterwards):

Blackalicious-check out all their albums, but "Blazing Arrow" is, in my opinion, a masterpiece. Gift of Gab can spit like no other. Check out his solo album.

Felt-combination Murs and Atmosphere. Fresh Tendrils already mentioned them so I won't go into detail, but they are two awesome rappers who seemingly get better when they work together.

Zion I-their recent album "True and Livin" was incredible. Nice calm, jazzy beats, solid rhymes, good guest spots. Just a great listen, but it took me a while to warm up to it and now I love it.

People Under the Stairs-seriously underrated. One of my favorite groups. Their most recent album is awesome. Good beats, great lyrics, great writing, I mean you almost find yourself laughing and crying from the album. Past stuff is great too, check out the songs "Acid Raindrops", "San Fransico Knights", "Montego Bay" there's many more but can't type much more.

Del Tha Funkee Homosapien (a.k.a. Deltron)-love the voice, love his flow and delivery and writing. Saw him live as well when he toured as part of Handsome Boy Modeling School and he's awesome live as well.

Ok so I'm kinda drunk now and I'm about to pass out. But here's a few more quick lists.

Names/artists you should know: Mos Def, Dead Prez, Atmosphere, The Roots, Jurassic 5, Hieroglyphics, J-Live, Lupe Fiasco, The Perceptionists, A Tribe Called Quest, Brother Ali, Common, De La Soul.

Artists you want to know if you already don't: Maroons (Lateef & Chief XL), Strange Fruit Project, Soul Postion, Blueprint, Aceyalone, Heiruspecs, Lyrics Born, Lateef the Truth Speaker, Lifesavas, Blue Scholars, Ugly Duckling, Beatnuts, Binary Star, Eyedea and Abilities.

I've had that song for a couple years and I'm really not that impressed w. it. The original version of Wack N!ggas off that album is sick though, as is the remake of '93 til Infinity. Consequence is def slept on.
