I just picked up the Lyrics Born Live! album. It's awesome, it sounds great too. And they put on three studio bonus tracks, including the "reopened and remixed" version of "I'm Just Raw" featuring Del. So yeah, it's a good cd.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Artist: Strange Fruit Project
Album: The Healing
Producers: S1 (7); Illmind (3); Chris "Daddy" Dave; Jake One; 9th Wonder; Vitamin D
Released: July 25, 2006
"Special" and "You (The Only Ones)" are the only solid tracks on the album, as the rest are good lyrics over subpar melodies. The rap talent that SFP possesses deserves more than what S1 had to offer on this album. In fact, taking a Murs or Buckshot approach and going for an all 9th Wonder produced cd would do them justice. There is no question that emcees Myone and Myth have the gift of gab, and this is clearly evident on the track "Special". The second verse on this particular track is front runner to winning verse of the year on my yearly awards. It's too bad that the rest of the album couldn't follow suit. It couldn't because the beats are lackluster and too toned down and mellowed out.- Grade:

Re: fans of underground rap?
I'll have to agree with X*Cell's assessment of "The Format." I personally think it's an amazing effort by AZ; much of the album is produced excellently, and AZ's flow tends to match perfectly with the beat. "I Am the Truth" and "Games" are quite the treats, especially if you're into "enhancing your experience" *winkwink*.
I'm going to be completely honest with you guys when I say that the first time I heard "I Am the Truth" I was blown away. It's easily song of the year IMHO. If ever there was a song that AZ flowed perfectly, this is it.
As a downside, I wouldn't consider the album a classic because a couple of the songs on the album I'd never listen to, probably because they're not my style (see "Sit 'Em Back Slow), but overall the album is top notch. I'd agree with the A- rating.
As for CL Smooth's "American Me," I was a little less impressed with it. I enjoy a few of the songs on the album, but overall CL strays too far from his old self. If you're looking for that fantastic flow he once provided on "The Main Ingredient, it's basically gone. A couple of the songs are pretty good, but nothing mindblowing and nothing particularly catchy. My favorite song on the album is probably "I Can't Help It" or "Heaven's Watching You."
I give the album a B-.Comment

New info from our favorite hip-hop group from their myspace:

Greetings and Salutations to all.
Been a little slack on the blog tip, but being as though we have an album to finish I figured y'all would be understanding.
As for 'Getback', we've got 13 down and about 7 more to go (iTunes exclusives, import tracks, remixes, non-album b-sides) before we officially call it a wrap.
To hold y'all over until then, me and Pooh will be dropping our mixtape with Mick Boogie, "And Justus For All" at the top of January. Originally, we were gonna drop this before the end of the '06, but we decided to push it back and add more exclusive ****......rhyming over other niggas beats just doesn't interest me too much....(although I must admit that the "Throw Some D's" instrumental been callin my name lately....)
Speaking of which, that song has become my life's theme song. No matter what the situation is, that reply just always seems to work:
"Man, I just got laid off."
THO SOME D'S ON THAT BITCH!
"My computer just froze up."
THO SOME D'S ON THAT BITCH!
"The baby's crying."
THO SOME D'S ON THAT BITCH!
Anyway...just wanted to drop this quick note to let y'all know that the LB train is still moving forward full steam ahead, and we CAINT BE STOPPED! (c) The Honorable William D. of the Geto Boys, arguably the angriest, most uncouth ***** to ever wield a microphone.....(download "I Wanna **** Yo' Mama" for proof.....lol)
Be back with more content soon, but have to run for now as I'm fitna watch 'Cars' (still a good flick, worst you can say is that it doesn't match 'Untouchables'.....but hell, I dunno what does.....although 'Ratatouille' looks amazing.....yeah, I'm a Pixar fan...) befo' I go to the studio...
Chea!
Tho'ing some d's on this blog,

Re: fans of underground rap?
Terrible News from Wikipedia:
Getback is a forthcoming album from Little Brother. It will be the group's third studio album, and their second major label effort, following 2005's The Minstrel Show.
[edit] Emerging Details
The group has confirmed the involvement of several outside producers, in addition to 9th Wonder. These include Nottz (who previously collaborated with the group on the Justus League album, Soldiers of Fortune), Illmind (who has contributed to their mixtape albums), The Alchemist, and possibly DJ Premier.
So far, the songs recorded and confirmed include 4 Nottz produced songs, and 4 Illmind produced songs, along with 1 9th Wonder produced song. This news apparently cause many to speculate about 9ths role within the group, some even suggesting that he may have left the group entirely. Asked for clarification, 9th responded:<TABLE class=cquote style="BORDER-TOP-STYLE: none; BORDER-RIGHT-STYLE: none; BORDER-LEFT-STYLE: none; POSITION: relative; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; BORDER-BOTTOM-STYLE: none" cellPadding=10 align=center><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width=20>[1]
</TD><TD>I'm still part of the group and that's all I have to say. I'm big on what's in the group stays in the group. I've always said the same thing, I'm 9th Wonder of Little Brother and Phonte is the leader of Little brother. This is the direction the MC's have decided to take. I've only got one beat on the album for now and if I get more, I do and if I don't, I don't.</TD><TD vAlign=bottom width=20>
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Fan reaction to this news has been mixed, with some welcoming the new changes, and others calling for greater involvement from 9th. The album is roughly scheduled for a second quarter release in 2007.
That hurts... it really does... My anticipation for this cd has definetely taken a hit.SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

Yeah, After the new danger, I was a bit skeptical, although he beasted on that 9th Wonder track on Seperate But Equal. Couple other of his non-cd released tracks, were fire too.
One last chance Mr. Mos, but if you can impress me, you're back with us, if you are kind of to very disappointing, we will not be able to listen to you anymore (at least I won't).SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Hell yeah man, but as for leakers, I never look for tracks that leak, unless its like one preview track. I don't want to listen to any of the album until I get it and hear it on a cd, in the order that its necessary, and how the actual album balances itself. "Smoke and Mirrors" by OC was a fantastic album... none of the tracks were amazing, but it had a good balance, and did good on 15 of 18 tracks, that didn't sound all that well not thrown together.SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment
