Deadpool is a fun little comic, it got a little silly 2-3 years ago when there were literally 4 deadpool books but having the one book we have now and the miniseries that have been coming out sporadically is fine with me.

DC really needs a comedy character like that and they have a character that can be done that way in Booster Gold though it's unlikely he'll get a book anytime soon. He's been last seen in a couple issues of All Star Western with Jonah Hex. BTW I love the creativity of that book as Hex has been thrown into the modern world and is now teaming up with Arkham's great grandson. LOL!

Not sure exactly where to post this so I'll leave it here. An Eddie Brock/Venom short film. It's done in a very different style, but I thought it was pretty good.

          Re: Comic Book Fans....

I have been really pleased w/ the "Injustice" book. Much better than the Arkham books that were based on that video game. Issue #7 was very good and told the story of what happened w/ Black Adam; which was oddly never really part of the game's actually story mode if I remember correctly although he was one of the characters of use in the game.

Its been a well thought-out story and comic... w/ what's occurred in the comic up to this point being a prequel to the game's main story.

I am also excited that issue #7 featured Captain Atom, Blackbolt, and Huntress on the Batman/Insurgency side. It would be awesome if that was a pre-cursor to seeing those characters as playable upcoming & downloadable characters in the actual game.

Also, the Injustice #1 issue is already booking at $20.00 in my overstreet and it's only a few months old. I think due to the BIG events of Lois Lane/Joker dying in issue #1 gives the book some interesting value, that and the print-run was low

          I got my #1.

I don't read the "news" so when I hear stuff like that I get excited too. I did notice that DC is copying Marvel on some of their books with .1s.

              C'Mon DC!

Other than that, things are humming along nicely in the books I take great interest in although i've had to stop reading most of the Superman titles because of the H.I.V.E./Hector Hammond nonsense which is kinda boring to me.

The GL family of books are struggling a bit to find a cohesion but i'm liking the direction of Red Lanterns what with Guy (working secretly for Hal or maybe not. It's gotten a little ambiguous) taking over the Red Lantern Corps.

I bought some supes digitally, only up to issue #3... it's been alright. Never much into Green Lantern. DC for me is Batman, Justice League, JLA, Talon, and Suicide Squad.

I believe the .1's are only for the villan month. Think there's only 3 I want.

I didn't realize there were one shots involved, I thought the villain month was just a big gimmick. It probably still is, but sounds more accessible and something I would be more interested in if I can just pick up a couple of one-off books.

Had never really read the entire Wolvie Miller/Claremont mini until this week.

Honestly, I know it's wolvies first self-titled run, but it's not that good IMO. The artwork is decent enough, the writing is meh, and does not stand the test of time. The depiction of the Japanese seems way off, and I hate how every first page is Wolvie re-explaining/narrating who he is, his mutant abilities, adamantium skeleton, etc.

                      Thoughts?

Haven't read it yet as I haven't gotten that far in my reading of X-Men history but the writing style is vintage Claremont. Some people love it and a lot of people (retroactively IMO) hate it. One of the reasons for the whole Wolverine explaining himself bit is that this was going to be the big breakthrough for the character who was now suddenly the most popular character in X-Men and hey, it gave us "I'm the best there is at what I do, but what I do best isn't very nice." catchphrase that got buried into the ground.

The depiction of Japanese culture may be a bit off but at the very least it expanded upon what Claremont established earlier in his run on X-Men with Byrne and it did lead to the "Wolverine as Samurai" depiction that was milked to death for years.

Gear grinder: no comic writer ever gets across just how much of a proficient martial artist/fighter Wolverine actually is anymore. Now Its always all about the damage soak him and his healing factor can take.

Paul Cornell is doing an interesting storyline where Wolverine is without his healing factor. The actual storyline just started this issue. (#8) Allan Davis is the artist on the book as well so it's quality stuff.

Well I finally read one of the three most seminal stories in X-Men history...

                              WOW!

The Dark Phoenix Saga is one of the best comic book storylines i've ever read. I'm ashamed it's taken me this long to read this and now i'm very intrigued to read "Days of Future Past" and "God Loves, Man Kills" when I get to them. The crazy thing is, Claremont/Byrne didn't even want to kill Jean off and in being forced to do it they and X-Men in general lucked into a storyline that still resonates to this day!

Awesome stuff all around and even though I knew the end result my room still got a little dusty.
