Damn I missed the boat. 3 volumes of Knightfall, Crisis and another big trade, all 350-650 pages each... Just $5 during SDCC on Comixology. Added them to my cart, forgot to checkout.

Well Injustice is finally coming to an end.

My son's loving the Injustice series.
He's basically in love with any of the New 52 DC series as well.

I was a Marvel guy growing up but for whatever reason, those heroes are not grasping his attention.
I'm trying to track down a collection of the old Secret Wars series. That was awesome.

Also, does anyone remember a 12-part(?) series with Hyperion and the Squadron Supreme?
That, along with the Spiderman/Kraven mini-series, were my two favourite's growing up.

              Kraven's Last Hunt was brilliant.

                Re: Comic Book Fans....

My son bought his first comic yesterday (JLA #1) and it's getting me in the mood to read some.

If I were to start reading Batman, is Court Of Owls a good place to start? I've heard it's a solid retelling of the Batman mythos, but I don't know if I'll be missing out by passing on older Batman work. I've read Year One is the place to start with older work.

Mind you guys, the only comic or GN I've ever read is Watchmen, so I'm new to this.

While on vacation I have read
the Court/City of Owls and Death of A Family.

In the new 52 what is the status quo? I can infer what happened to Joker and his face, but what about Barbara and Joker? Is the Killing Joke still in the status quo history?

Either way I loved both story arcs. Snyder definitely captured how insane The Joker can be.

I also read Chew Volume 1. It's a great comic even if the overall story felt more like set up than anything else.

I read blackest night and brightest day back to back over two days in the hospital after my son was born. Good stuff. Wish the movie was better, we'd probably already be enjoying a second one with the Sinestro Corps. etc.

Yes the Killing Joke is still cannon. Barbara has some kind of experimental back surgery that cured her paralyzation. The Court of Owls is one of my all time favorite Batman stories.

Any after Flashpoint (ie New52) is way after the Killing Joke (March 1988). If you are just looking for individual stories and not collecting/reading all of the single issues the here is a list of good stuff.

                            Batman Year One
                            Hush
                            All Star Batman and Robin
                            The Long Halloween
                            Batman and Robin Reborn
                            Gotham by Gaslight

                            Batman The Widening Gyre

I just read Knightfall Vol 1 and found it to be good. Shows just how stubborn Batman can be, to the point of endangering himself and friends.

I just started last week, finished Court of Owls, almost done with Night of the Owls.

                                I'm using this : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Batman_comics

then going down to the New 52 Batman section (near bottom of page), and going from there. I"m a comic book newbie - so someone tell me if I should go a different way, but so far it's been a great read.
