I recently discovered an old series called The Alien Legion. Man, this is some great stuff! Anyone read this series back in the mid to late 80s?

Re: Comic Book Fans....
New hobby...custom Marvel Icons. I've seen converted or repainted figures go for 150-400 bucks, sometimes more on E-Bay, so I thought I'd try a couple.
This was originally an Icons Cyclops
This one was the Icons Silver Surfer

Re: Comic Book Fans....
Yep...thanks, homie.
Next up, Johnny Storms Icon is heading for a Pietro Maximov makeover. Also sizing up another Torch for Gambit, changing a Thor into a Collossus, and another Surfer into Namor. My buddy suggested some x-mas tree angel wings for a badass Angel. Big Lots was selling these for 10 bucks, so I grabbed as many as I could. I'm also in the process of painting a rotocast Hulk movie figure:
Before
After
This is pretty tedious, though...My man Hulk may take awhile.

Damn man, that's hot. That Hulk is looking nice. How long do these usually take and how long have you been doing this? How much to get one of those off your hands?PS: You guys are great.

Re: Comic Book Fans....
Tha Hawkeye was alot of trial and error with the straps and whatnot. He took about 3 weeks. The mask, eyes, ears and some of the trim is modeling clay and his chainmail is individual lines of sequin string. The Vision was all painting, he only took about 4 good days, so I guess the time depends on the project. The Quicksilver should only take a week, but the Colossus will probably take a month with all the sanding I'll have to do. Its a labor of love, though. A big "F.U." goes out to Hasbro for killing this line,I shouldn't have to go through all this.
These are my first figure conversions, but I've been painting Warhammer minis for about 4 years, and the same techniques apply.
I dunno about prices yet, man...I've been lurking on conversion and repainting sites to guage what a fair commision is. Of course my OS homies (even the Piston fans) will of be shown love. My wife is trying to get me to put these on E-Bay, so we'll see how it goes...maybe I can get a little side business going.Last edited by HMcCoy; 07-11-2008, 05:40 AM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Those customs look great. I've tried a bit of that myself, but I just don't have a steady enough hand. Be sure to post pics when you finish up the others.Comment

Re: Comic Book Fans....
I recently placed an order from Marvel for 12 issues of Amazing Spiderman and Captain America. I also placed a 12 issue subscription from DC for The Flash.
Next month I plan on 12 issue subscription orders for
Superman
Batman
Green Lantern
Mighty Avengers
HulkComment

Re: Comic Book Fans....
How much are subscriptions for comics nowadays? What is hot right now? I was into "Y" for awhile and it was great, but it just kept going and going and I lost interest. Thanks for any help!Comment

Anybody know anything about the Marvel adaptation to Stephen Kings "The Stand"? Heard about it somewhere and it looks like it will be pretty sweet!Comment
