I've seen the movie twice in the last 24 hours and I don't see how people like SM 1&2 better. This movie was much more exciting and action packed and I already knew pretty much the outcome of the movie months and months ago as I follow certain movies during production.

This was a great superhero trilogy.

I thought 3 was pretty awful compared to the first two. Spiderman 3 was more of a montage than a movie.

Yup, the very end of the first was the most blatant. In the second one it was a bit more subdued with Spidey swinging at the very end of the movie and a row of flags in the background.

I was unaware of that. I have seen the first two, i would say, at least twice each. I dont recall seeing it.

It must just be the fact that the entire movie was cheesy and it seems to add to it.

Can anyone post any video or anything of the flag use in the first two?

That was actually my mindset when I first saw the film, but do you know what?---I saw it again this morning and liked it even better. I'm now debating whether I like it better than #2.

The movie wasn't as bad as some of you are makin it out to be. Definietly not as good as 1 and 2 but its way way way better than X-men 3 was and is still one of the best comic book movies out.

About Carnage amd Lizard......hummm Lizard can't hold a movie on his own, and the way they treated Venom doesn't give me high hopes for Carnage who isn't no where as cool as Venom. However if Sam Raimi actually wants to deliver a good story, then it might be great.

Supposedly, some people wanted this movie to be split up into 3 and 4 because there was so much stuff going on but they couldn't come up with a climax to end Spiderman 3. I think that would have been a great idea because there's way more they could have done with the Spiderman/Venom dynamic than they did.

Still haven't seen it (probably won't see it until about the 18th, when I return home and see it with my little sister), but after hearing about this dance scene and some other weird jazz, do you think that enough complaints will warrant them to release the DVD with that cut out of the movie and adding in some more things that they had originally filmed? LOL

I feel that if they would have taken out Venom, and Gwen, and made Peter's change in character a subtle and darker one, instead of makin him an a**hole. Focus on MJ and Peter's problems, and Flint, and Harry. I think the movie would have been just as good as the first two. I still liked it though. I think im gonna see it again sometime within the week.

I think I'm done for the most part, but this question isn't as much about the movie as much as it is about the off-chance of a director actually going back and making edits for the DVD release of a movie (at least a Special Edition DVD).

I personally can't wait for a 3 hour edition if we're given one! I don't know how happy I'll be about those weird scenes, but if they don't affect the overall movie too much, I'm sure Raimi and friends are reading boards for responses to this movie. Is it realistic for a crew to ever take out unnecessary parts because the feedback was so negative?

No.

That costs money. Right now, they are making money... in record numbers. Why make drastic changes?

The last shot of Spider-Man. He's swinging through the city and jumps onto the flag pole, the flag obstructs the view of him for a moment. He poses for a second on the pole, then jumps away with the flag in the background:


I can't find an image from the second, but it's similar. Spider-Man is swinging down the street at the very end. Only this time it is more tasteful and there is a flag(s) in the background hanging off a building.

As far as capitalizing on patriotism, the first definitely was guilty of that more than the others. Especially considering they added that whole "Mess with Spider-Man and you mess with New York" stuff when they threw junk at the Goblin, which came after 9/11. I still cringe during that scene because it's just so corny.
