imo Venom-carnage alone would be great for part 4

Re: Spiderman 3 Chatter
Okay, sorry guys, still have to ask questions... would an Uncut DVD with extra footage be able to salvage some of the character-developing things, or were they just poorly done altogether?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Spiderman 3 Chatter
Blzer, no. It was just poorly done.
They made a mistake by adding two bad guys... well, pretty much three. It was overload and two of the three weren't able to be developed NEARLY enough... the other one you already knew the story of.Originally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? Re: Spiderman 3 Chatter
Saw it last night and this was the worst of the three films by far. This movie was boring for a lot of it. I agree with a lot of the posters that there is to much going on (to many story lines). The dance scene and part were Peter is dancing in the streets was awfull. You just laugh because it was that bad. I will say the fights scenes are good and the effects are cool. This movie was just okay and like I said the worst of the three, very disappointing.Comment

I still like #1 the best, mostly because of William D as the green goblin. He was great.Comment

Re: Spiderman 3 Chatter
I just back from the movie and I have to say I'm very underwhelmed. You can tell the entire cast & crew is getting tired of coming back to make these movies and I hope 3 is the last in this series. I've never thought Dunst was a good actress, but she barely does anything aside from just speaking. I thought Topher and Church did good jobs with what they had to go with, but Bruce Campbell stole the movie for me. I also wanted to see more Bryce Dallas Howard (who is Ron Howard's daughter, FYI) not only because I thought she looked beautiful, but because her character was under developed - as was Venom's and Sandman's. The action scenes were pretty good, but I still prefer the Doc Ock train fight. Aside from the "what the ****" middle with the "darkside" Peter, the worst part was definitely the dialogs. It was formulaic as hell and the whole dramatic irony in there has gotten old. I could handle it in the first two because 1) the acting was good and 2) the overall movies were great, but in this one it was just bad. And like I said, the dancing Peter/ladies man thing during the middle was just B.A.D. I couldn't help laughing because it made no sense and shouldn't have even been in the movie, much less thought of.
Overall, there was definitely too much in this movie. It was long, the ending felt drug out, the dialog was full of cheese and cliches, but the action scenes were pretty good and the Sandman special effects were terrific. Its by far the worst of the trilogy.

Re: Spiderman 3 Chatter
I saw the film on Friday and came away happy with the first 2 hours, dissapointed with the last 20 minutes.
First of all I'll just say my worst fears going into this film were realized, and that was that there was too much and not enough time to cover everything. Venom gets about 20 minutes of the movie, if that. The Sandman and Goblin really don't get much more either. I think this clearly is Raimi's last Spider-man and that is why he tried to get everything in. Sandman was a villain targeted by Raimi even before the first one came out and Venom is the villain the fanboys have been begging for ever since then as well. And after how the first two went, they couldn't just leave out Harry/Green Goblin 2. So here we have a mess of a situation where the director is trying to establish three main villains and have some sort of a climax and resolution with all three.
The Goblin was done the best. The costume was horrible and terribly lame (a hoverboarding paintballer with a sword?!) but the part was well-written and well acted. Definitely Franco's best performance in the trilogy. And I liked how that conflict was resolved, and really, it was the only way it should have ended. The team-up though wasn't done as well as it could have been, with the scene between Harry and Peter just before Spidey goes off to save the day being completely unnecessary. The exchange between Harry and Bernard when he talks about the night Norman died was also stupid. I would have preferred a situation similar to the comics where Harry shows up to save MJ (in the comics it was his wife and son) and at the last moment decides to save Peter. Still, the Goblin was done pretty well and I found the scenes with Harry to be ammusing rather than annoying as they were in the second film.
The Sandman started off well, then ran out of time. They tried to create a good backstory but it just wasn't given enough time. That and after his confrontation with the black Spider-Man he just conveniently dissappears for a large portion of the film. The special effects for him though were awesome, especially the scene where he first pulls himself together.
Venom/Brock also needed more time. They did at least develop a little rivalry between Parker and Brock but it was forced. I have always felt all along that Brock needed to be introduced in the first film, and then Spider-Man/Peter Parker mess things up for him for two films before he finally snaps as Venom. Given that they chose not to go that route, they did an okay job in making Brock hate Peter. Topher Grace was actually a decent Eddie Brock and I had no complaints there. I did hate the final fight scene between the two as it wasn't long enough and the resolution was fairly lame. Also, they needed to establish that the suit was vulnerable to sonic vibrations earlier in the film (the jazz club would have been a most opportune time). My friend and I were both very dissapointed with the Venom fight. At least Venom looked cool enough.
As far as the move outside of the villains, I thought Maguire did a good job as Peter once again. There were definitely more humorous parts and they weren't bad, though the jazz club scene was a bit too much for me. I did enjoy the montage of Peter walking around in supreme confidence and thought it was a nice contrast with a similar scene in Spider-man 2 ("Raindrops keep falling on my head..."). Kirsten Dunst was horrible, again. I thought her performance in Spider-man 2 was awful and it was just as bad here. It's not all her fault though, as the character has been poorly written in both instances (I hate that they made her a singer for this one), but I still think she was a poor choice as MJ. Aunt May was the same, very preachy, but her scenes were short and there weren't many so I didn't mind her as much this time around. JJ was hilarious, as always.
I still think the black costume kind of stunk and would have preferred something more akin to the comic version. Emo Peter also was pretty stupid but kind of funny at the same time since I don't think you're supposed to take him seriously. There were was the obligatory cheesey flag scene in this one as well, which has been present in each Spider-man movie so I don't get the complaints here, I expected it. The one other major complaint I have is with the lack of Spider-man in this one. There just weren't enough scenes of Spider-man web-slinging around New York. And of course, it goes without saying since I assume everyone is on the same page, but the ending was awful. I don't really like cheesey, sappy endings, but one here would have been better than what Raimi chose to give us. If he wanted to effectively close the trilogy, then he should have just done it, not end it with this stupid scene.
Really, if the last 20 minutes of the movie had gone differently I would have walked out thinking this one was just as good as the previous two. Since that wasn't the case, both my friend and I were left talking about our dissapointments in the parking lot for a half hour. Both of us agreed it wasn't as good as Spider-Man 2, but we needed to let it sink in and rewatch it before deciding if it surpassed the first one. It was a good summer flick and the gap between this film and the second really isn't that large. It won't surprise me if some people prefer this one over the other two because there were some really good fight scenes and special effects. The initial fight scene between Peter and the Goblin is, in my opinion, the best of the trilogy and if I go see this movie again it will be to see that part. All in all it isn't a bad way to end the triology though it does remind me that I would like to see a change if there is a Spider-man 4. No Dunst, a different writer, and maybe no Raimi (I like Sam Raimi, but I want to see someone else try their hand at Spider-man). If there is a fourth (and I think it's a guarantee there will be one eventually because the series is too profitable to end) I don't expect it to have many of the same people involved and wouldn't expect to see it until after 2010.Comment

Re: Spiderman 3 Chatter
I don't understand how anyone doesn't like the "sappy" scenes. They are a necessity to develop the characters.
It seems as if people wanted more action and less talking. Personally, I'm not crazy about that.
I originally didn't like the character development as well. The problem is I know the background to these characters... and this movie can't be made under that assumption.
I didn't realize how poorly developed characters would fail in these films until Gwen Stacy... it's as if Raimi included the characters just to include them.
Personally, while the action was crazy and the movie enjoyable, too much was stuffed into this film. We're talking about 100's of comics and scenes of character development thrown into 25 minutes on the big screen... that doesn't add up.
Even with my thoughts, I have to remember it's not an exact take on the comics. It's tough to differentiate that.Comment

Re: Spiderman 3 Chatter
Spiderman 3 isn't as good as Spiderman 2 but it's just as good as the first one.
I love the look of Venom. The action scenes were amazing. Because I don't read comics, the twist in the last 30 minutes really surprised me. I cracked up at Harry Osborn's comment about pie at the cafe. His **** eating grin really sold the scene. Jameson was funny as usual and Bruce Campbell was great as the Maitre d at the restaurant.
Kirsten Dunst annoyed me. I wish an actress such as Rachel McAdams was cast as Mary Jane instead of her. It's too bad Venom was reduced to such a small role. He should have been the main villian in another Spiderman film. It's impossible to juggle 3 villians at the sametime. I guess Raimi had no choice since Maguire signed a 3 picture deal. He wanted to cram everything into the last film. The movie dragged on with the signing and "ladies man" Parker.
Overall, the movie could have been better but I still enjoyed it.
I can't wait to see the HD version and I'm sure the DVD will be packed with special features. I'm going to predict Spiderman 3 will be bundled with the PS3 later this year.

I liked the movie a lot, but Venom felt very unsatisfying to me. He was barely a part of the movie.Comment

Re: Spiderman 3 Chatter
I've seen the movie twice in the last 24 hours and I don't see how people like SM 1&2 better. This movie was much more exciting and action packed and I already knew pretty much the outcome of the movie months and months ago as I follow certain movies during production.
This was a great superhero trilogy.Comment
