Either that or they just didn't find the plane so they were assumed dead. That was just a theory I came up with.

Does this mean Kate is pregnant with Sawyer's child now?
I can't buy that because we already saw a scene of Ben first discovering the flight crashing. Ben then tells Mikhail to pull up full-life bios of everyone on the plane.

If they were part of a plan then they wouldn't need to find that information. They would already have it.

Also, the survivors weren't assumed dead because Naomi says that the plane was found and everyone on the plane was dead.

As for Kate, it's possible. With the sperm count being five times greater on the Island it's highly likely.

Makes me wonder about life on that Island, though. Here we have sperm counts that are unusually high, but to use that increased benefit to impregnate a woman would result in her death. Talk about ironic.

Could anyone have sex there? No wonder these people look so damn stressed.

It doesn't mean he won't be back.

It just means that the writers need to find a creative way to give Walt reason to have gotten older.

I would imagine that the reason we haven't seen Michael and Walt sooner includes, but is not limited to, the fact that the writers never intended to have a time issue between the Island and the outside world.

If Walt does go home and returns to the Island then there's going to be a time issue. Unless the writers just let it go and hope that people will accept that the actor that plays Walt got older but is not meant to be older on the show. And that would be difficult to pull off.

Perhaps it could be why time jumping was introduced for Desmond's character. Maybe when we do finally see Michael and Walt again it'll be them in the future via a flash-forward of Desmond.

Two crazy theories about the show that I've heard from a friend.

-Baby Aaron is actually Ben, and the island has some sort of time loop.

-The entire show is a TV show inside of an actual TV show. At the end of the series, the director comes out and says "That's a rap folks", signifying everything that happened on the island was just a TV show.

If the second was true, the entire series would have been a HUGE letdown. The first theory would make a bit of sense. Ben did say he was born on the island, just like Aaron was.

Edit: Think we will ever find out what the psychic saw when he read Claire's future? We also heard that the kid was important to the island, maybe the kid was Aaron, and not Walt.

Perhaps Dharma's influence stretches further than the island, how else could they find the plane with everyone on it dead.

It kind of goes with the whole Catch-22 from last and many other episodes. Just like Jin's father had to raise Jin on his own, Jin may have to raise his child on his own, without the boys mother.

The Island doesn't seem too keen on new people arriving, considering every new child results in a mother dying, wonder why that is? Why can everyone seemingly be healed but mother's die?

Yeah I could see that, although I'm sure the writers for Heroes would complain about the Lost crew being a bunch of biters.

I hope Mike and Walt return, if only to see Sayid's initial "I'm gonna torture a B" reaction followed by Jack's "Well, now wait a second" bullshiz.

Can't wait for the final 3 shows.

You bring up something that made me think some more.

Ben obviously has no mother. No mention of her, right? She likely also died. Only thing I can assume with what we know of the island. Could also explain why we see no old people on the island (except that one lady that wanted to punish Juliet), though people have lived on it for a long time.

The DHARMA Initiative is believed to have been founded in 1970, which could be around the same time Ben was born (he appears to be older than 30).

The DHARMA Initiative intended to find ways to change the Valenzetti Equation and save the human race.

Perhaps their testing affected the sperm count on the Island. It affected the ability to avoid cancer and presumably (according to Mikhail) heal from injury quickly. Of course, it was discovered that though they were able to manipulate the environment they were unable to change the values of the equation. DHARMA affected the sperm count and the equation responded by killing mothers to even out the equation. Not exactly the Island's doing (In this explanation/theory the Island is a product of the research. It is what it is because it's environment was affected), but the doing of life. Things always even out. You give us birth, we give you death.

Of course, this presents an issue so the DHARMA Initiative must find ways to save mothers. They must once again affect the environment in some way. Perhaps, they could not. Or perhaps they could not control what they affected. This leads to using whoever lands on the Island as research.

Now comes a plane crashing onto the Island. Perfect opportunity to continue their research.

Why wouldn't they try to find a way to keep them on the Island? Maybe, like you said, their influence does spread that far. If you show people that the "survivors" are dead then no one will look for them. Gives years of time to keep the survivors in the Island to continue their research.

Ben obviously has an agenda. There must be something that motivates him to find a solution to the dying mother epidemic on the Island. That motivation could be Jacob (whoever he is), DHARMA, or even knowing that his mother died as a result of his birth.

                dola

And if Lost is a time warp - thus explaining Desmond's reasons for seeing the future - and the Losties are being given an opportunity to fix things then Ben doesn't necessarily have to be Aaron.

                He could be Kate's son.

                  .
Oh man, that would be brutal. Lost would go from being one of the best shows in recent memory to one of the worst if it ended like that. They'd be asking a million questions for 4-5 seasons then just end it w/o answering any of the major questions - a permanent cliffhanger.

I also think that the black girl from the plane is a setup from the others. Mikael wouldn't just happen to stumble upon her like that, seems too random. The others want the Losties to think they're being rescued or close to it.

And is for Ben being either Kate's or Claire's son....I'd hope nothing that ugly could come out of a woman that attractive.

Very good points that got me thinking even more, which is scary.
The Island cures disease, prevents cancer, even makes Locke walk again, even buddy with the patch seems to have lived through certain death (I'm sure there is more here for him). However, Ben gets cancer in the form of a tumor on his back. This is offset with Jack arriving on the island, coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

The Others as well as us, the audience saw the plane crash on the Island, right? Didn't we also see Mr Eko's brother, Hugo's friend from the mental institute, and Kate's horse? For these images to make any sense there has to be something either magical or technological going on that is blinding people of the truth and creating false images ala The Matrix. Sounds stupid right? What better way to observe human reactions then create a false world around them, the proverbial deserted island to find out what humanity is all about.

As for Ben, since Ben was born on the Island, you would think he would experience the healing powers of it the most, maybe for Ben its the opposite because he was born on the Island or maybe he just isn't "the guy" and John Locke is. I definatley think Locke is gonna take over running The Others eventually. Now I've strayed off track.

Hmm, I keep reminding myself of Mikhail's obvious lie to Desmond when Naomi supposedly said, "Thank you for saving my life."

She said something else that is likely important to Mikhail for the Losties not to know.

If she said it to him then I'm going to assume he had no clue who she was.

But, I'm also getting the vibe that the Others have seen people land on this Island out of nowhere many, many times. They seem unfazed by random people showing up. A bit too unfazed. Seems scrary.

Here's something to look forward to.

Next week's episode "The Brigg" was written by Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse.

Still no word (at least from what I know) of whose flashback episode it will be.
