Anyone else seen Out of Sight on HD DVD? Just watched it. Pretty good movie with a good transfer. Not the best PQ ever, but definitely not bad.

^ Seems like a purposely done "mistake" to jigger interest in Japan, but we'll see.
The inclusion of several classic Steven Spielberg titles in an HD DVD presentation given by Universal Studios Japan got tongues wagging online Friday.
A screenshot from the presentation, which includes mention of 'Jaws,' 'E.T.' and 'Jurassic Park' among other high-profile Universal titles began appearing online shortly after it was delivered at the CEATAC conference this week in Japan.
Although the context of the slide in question was unclear, the mere image of Spielberg tiles on a page wrapped by the "Look and Sound of Perfect" graphics common to all of Universal's HD DVD discs was enough to whip fans into a near-frenzy on our own forums and elsewhere online.
As longtime readers of this site know, Spielberg has had a rocky relationship with the HD DVD format in the past.
Back in February, the official HD DVD Promotions Group (of which Universal is a member) issued a public apology to the director after listing several of his titles in a "Coming Soon" list that was apparently never approved by the director. Then, August's stunner of a press release announcing Paramount/DreamWorks jump to HD DVD exclusivity included a conspicuous one line carve-out, stating that Spielberg's DreamWorks films would be exempt from the terms of the HD DVD exclusivity agreement.
Spielberg himself has gone on record (via his publicist) as being a "big supporter of Blu-ray," and the only Spielberg-directed title currently set for next-gen release is 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind,' which is due on Blu-ray exclusively from Sony on November 13.
So, does Universal Japan know something we don't? Despite Spielberg's apparent preference for Blu-ray, could HD DVD releases of the director's earlier titles in fact be in the works? With no official word from the director or studio, your guess is as good as ours. Stay tuned...D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
One week after I post this, and my 360 craps out. Lovely.
Looks like I will be waiting until Christmas to get the HD-DVD player. It won't cost me anything if I get it as a gift, and I won't have my 360 back for at least a month anyway.Comment

The conclusion to the Japanese Spielberg/HD DVD flub..
Spielberg Camp Shuts Down Latest HD DVD Rumors
Although a presentation from Universal Japan late last week appeared to indicate otherwise, Steven Spielberg's longtime spokesman is denying reports that several of the director's classic flicks are headed to HD DVD.
As we first reported last Friday, a slide from a presentation made by Universal Japan at last week's CEATAC conference included mention of 'Jaws,' 'E.T.' and 'Jurassic Park' among other high-profile Universal titles apparently headed to HD DVD.
Given the director's apparent preference for Blu-ray, and his previous denials of any immediate plans for HD DVD release of his titles, the image of Spielberg tiles on a page wrapped by the "Look and Sound of Perfect" graphics common to all of Universal's HD DVD discs was enough to whip fans into a near-frenzy on our own forums and elsewhere online.
Today, however, in a statement to Blu-ray.com, Spielberg spokesperson Marvin Levy put the rumors to bed.
"There are no plans to release these titles on HD DVD," said Levy. "It was a mistake and someone inadvertently put those titles into a presentation."
Levy went on to tell Blu-ray.com that Universal would be making a public statement regarding this mistake in the coming days.
As we've previously reported, back in February of this year, the official HD DVD Promotions Group (of which Universal is a member) issued a public apology to the director after listing several of his titles in a "Coming Soon" list that was apparently never approved by the director.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Update on the Superbad Blu-ray release, released 12/4
A rare two-disc Blu-ray release for the studio, 'Superbad' will boast a slew of bonus features, all confirmed to be presented in full 1080 high-def video. Among the extras are multiple audio commentaries with cast & crew, the "Making of 'Superbad'" documentary, multiple featurettes, deleted and extended scenes, an alternate title sequence, gag reel, cast auditions, on-set video diaries, early "table reads," and more.
Exclusive to the Blu-ray release will be a unique subtitle track entitled "Superbad Supermeter," which will keep a running tally of all the vulgar language and lingo throughout the film.PS4: aBayBates
