Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
I'm glad I waited on buying the Potter films. The entire series was 100 bucks at Best Buy but now I can get the first 4 for 40 bucks.Comment

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
Here, here. You know, the more blu-ray movies I see, the more I'm starting to think the whole thing is a big scam. Not literally a "scam," but the only blu-ray I own, for example, is Memento, and recently I discovered a kiss of death: I put in the DVD version (upscaled, granted) immediately after watching the blu-ray, and, frankly, there was no substantial difference. I was pretty disappointed.
Not to mention, how much longer are we going to be buying hard copies of movies anyway? This is arguably the last "generation" of hard copy; within five or ten years, you gotta think we'll just be downloading everything anyway.
I don't know that I'll be buying any blu-rays unless they happen to be dirt cheap.
2. The transfer for memento isn't supposed be great anyway: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/memento.html
Try comparing Ratatouille. Big difference between dvd and bluray.Comment

Amazon Offers 50 Percent Off Select Blu-ray Discs
Amazon Sale
If you've been waiting to pick up 'Ratatouille,' 'Lost' or any of Disney's other best-selling Blu-ray discs, there's never been a better time.
In a just-launched post-Christmas sale, Amazon is offering a total of 51 Disney Blu-ray titles at prices ranging from 43% to 50% off list, bringing the vast majority of listed discs down to an all-time low of $19.99.
Among the other top titles featured in the promotion are all three 'Pirates of the Caribbean' flicks, 'Cars,' 'High School Musical 2' and the just-released 'Underdog' (click here for full list).
At press time there was no word on how long this latest deal from Amazon would be offered.

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
Forgot to post this last night. Amazon.com has a HD-DVD BOGO for Canada's Boxing day (which was yesterday). Offer is still good though a few of the HD DVDs aren't listed now. Pretty decent selection, especially if you missed the last one. The Harry Potter's are the main draw on this one.
