Very impressed so far. One disappointment I have is that Apple still doesn't have a better uninstaller; guess the old UNIX way of doing things for now. I saw some Apps for it, but not sure if I want to deal with any unless anyone has any good recommendations?
AppCleaner All you do is drag an app onto the program, and it will find everything associated with that app and then give you the option to delete all the items or pick and choose what to delete. Couldn't be simpler. Also much much faster than going through an automated uninstall process. Plus it's FREE! Why Apple doesn't just build something exactly like this into the core is beyond me. Makes no sense.

The BEST thing about apps on a Mac is that they don't infiltrate your system and spread files and shortcuts all over the place. Also there are no registry entries or anything of that nature like you have to deal with on Windows. Instead there are 2-3 primary locations that files will be placed, and they are very easy to get to and easy to understand what file goes with what program. Since you don't truly "install" most apps on a Mac it makes it much easier to manage.

Yep that's what I meant, why doesn't Apple have an official software app.

Thanks for the tips and app man, I'll check it out. So far loving the Mac experience.

Tip for AppCleaner: If you go into the settings, you can turn on SmartDelete and then just drag apps to the Trash and it will auto-detect that it's an app and search for the related files.

Dam, why is mac memory so expensive.
It's not, go to www.crucial.com and get it from there.

It will go down. These MBPs are brand new, so of course things will be expensive. You should have 4GB inside already (two sticks of 2GB; I have one of these MBPs as well), that should be PLENTY. You shouldn't need 8GB unless you're planning on running some SERIOUS number crunching, video editing, etc. apps.

Looking forward to an upgrade but waiting until all Mac's have Snow Leopard pre-installed which should be sometime in September. I'm looking at the 15-inch Macbook Pro.

Once I make the upgrade, I'll just throw my 13-inch Black Macbook on Craiglist or Ebay.

Isnt it only like 20 or 30 bucks to upgrade to snow leopard?

I believe so, but I'm not upgrading just for Snow Leopard... I've had this Black Macbook for quite some time now and I felt like picking up the newer style Mac's w/ a bigger screen and of course the battery life improvements they've made is another benefit.

                          Just an overall upgrade.

Funny you say that, I paid for the upgrade for September, it only cost me $10, do to me just buying my macbook pro yesterday. There is a page to fill out to see if your Mac is new enough to get Snow Leopard for only $10, I already paid for it, can't wait.

I bought my macbook prio plus a new Sony Viao for my Fiance yesterday, now I'm think of selling my desktop, With both of us having our own system, I don;t care for my Desktop any more. And damn it I just installed a TB hdd a month ago.

I could have bought the Imac instead of the macbook pro, but I like portable better.

Yeah the upgrade is $9.95 and seeing it doesn't come out till September, there was really no point in waiting that long just to save $10.

Anyway, do you guys have any special cases for your Macbooks, if so which one and where did you buy from.
