I doubt those specs are real. Why would they put a higher resolution screen on the entry level MB air then on their entry level MBP?

They'll probably add an upgrade option for a 1440 x 900 display ala the hi res and antiglare option you can get for the current generation 15" and 17"

And they're out today....I love my 13' one, and am deciding whether to get a new 15' or an iMac. Thoughts?

I'll just say this. I bought my Core 2 Duo 13" MBP last week. The ONLY reason I'm gonna swap it out for one of these new puppies is cause I can lol. I'm still within the 14 day return period so why not!

To answer your question Perceptor...it depends on what you do on your 13". If you just browse the web, use iTunes, and some light video editing I wouldn't get a new 15". I think you'll be fine for another year when Apple will reportedly give a major refresh of the MBP line.

But hey, if you wanna drop $1700 for a new 15" then more power to ya. The graphics, processor, and webcam are all upgraded so it'll be a nice gift for yourself

hanks CJ - to clarify, I was deciding between getting a new MBP or an iMac. My wife, who was never a Mac person, has fallen in love with my MacBook and steals it constantly from me. We had agreed on getting a new Mac, but were deciding between a desktop and notebook...I love the MBP, but was curious about whether the iMac is a better buy

iMacs are up for a refresh soon, I would wait if that is what you want.

                    Re: Apple Mac Lovers

Recently invested in an entry-level Mac Pro tower for video editing and graphic design purposes. I'm not disappointed. True, there's no bundled monitor, but the "upgradability" (if that's even a word) is what really sold me. For that reason, the extra cash I'm investing should pay off down the road.

I've wanted to invest in a Pro since graduating from high school and with some elbow grease I finally managed to gather enough to do so. I don't regret it one bit. Only thing I'm disappointed in is the lack of a 64-bit Final Cut Studio, but I'm willing to wait for that. In the meantime, I'm borrowing a version of Final Cut Express from a former teacher. Apart from the absolutely hideous render times, it's perfectly fine for what I'm doing right now.

While I don't see myself turning into some kind of Mac fanboy down the road, I'm really impressed. Next up is investing in some memory modules, hard drives and a full version of Windows 7 for a Boot Camp partition. Long-term investment is an understatement, so I really hope I'm getting my money's worth (unlike many other Apple products I owned, all of which I shall not name).

OK so I shelled out and got a 17" MBP 2.3ghz with the anti-glare and 750GB model. My wife now gets my 13" and she'll be happy now that I got her aperture Looking forward to setting up tonight

So I was searching for a picture for my new avatar last night on Google Images, and I clicked one of the pictures (of Lance Berkman) and it took me to the website, which then promptly shrunk the window size and started performing a "virus scan".

I know this can't be good. When I tried to close the window, it said "Are you sure you want to leave this page?"

Anyone ever had this happen, or know how bad it could be?

To me that just sounds like a fancy web script that wanted to more-or-less trick you into buying some antivirus software via "detecting viruses" on your machine (that is, it would report viruses regardless whether you really have any, then say "buy and download our program to remove them"). The "Are you sure?" prompt can also be triggered by one of these fancy web scripts.

I doubt you have a virus, though I'd keep an eye on your computer for the next day or two. Might be worth it to invest in an antivirus program if you remain concerned; I recommend Kaspersky Internet Security, personally.

I'm finally ready to replace my first gen Macbook yes my Macbook 1,1 is still alive and kicking. Don't really need anything to intense just basic internet stuff and maybe some light gaming so I'm probably going to get just the basic Macbook or maybe the 2.3 Ghz MBP. Just have 2 questions for you guys.

                              1. Has anybody heard anything about a new Macbook, not the Pro. I've been looking around and can't find any rumors or anything. It's been just about a year since they last updated it so I figure an update will be coming around soon. I'd hate it if I bought the Macbook and then the new one comes out 2 weeks later but I can't find any news on it at all. This is the biggest reason I'm leaning towards the pro. I'm ready for a new computer now and will hopefully be buying in the next couple weeks and the MBPs just updated so I don't have to worry about a new better one coming out in a month for the same price.

                              2. Has anyone done any gaming on the 2.3 Ghz 2011 MBP. Really just looking to play starcraft 2 and some steam stuff. Just wondering if it's even worth trying or if the video card just isn't good enough to play anything relatively new.

"Final Cut Pro X" officially confirmed, for those interested:

$299 in June and finally 64-bit. As a video editor and overall production nerd, you can definitely count me in.
