    Re: Apple Mac Lovers

For anyone who sat out on the release of OSX Lion, Apple has released a couple of updates since then that have fixed some of the issues I had with it. I'm no longer having wireless or bluetooth connectivity issues.

I bought a new 21.5 inch iMac a few weeks ago. Pretty awesome.

Downloaded Lion for my 13' MB Pro. Now that there have been updates, I'll download for my MBP I bought earlier this year

So who has a Mac Pro? What specs are you working with? How do you like it? What are you using it for? Are new Mac Pros on the way?

I want this beast in my house.

The most I'm looking to spend is around $2500, I may even buy the 2.8 and swap it out for the hex-core. I just want to know where the cycle is at so that I don't regret buying one if the new one comes out a couple months later.

Also, anyone with previous experience, how much of a drop % wise does Apple usually go for when new iterations come out? I know the current Mac Pros have been the same price for damn near their entire life cycle. It would suck if the current ones only dropped $100 or so when the new ones drop. I'm hoping they drop by like $200/300.

Well, here's the specs for the 2011 Macbook Pro I have...

                    <a href="http://s83.photobucket.com/albums/j308/cgavio1/?action=view&amp;current=ScreenShot2011-08-21at65905PM.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j308/cgavio1/ScreenShot2011-08-21at65905PM.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I've had it for 4 months now, it's a been everything I've wanted to be. I'm what you would call a light Internet user. I browse websites with message boards (like this one and Saintsreport), I go on YouTube, NFL.com to watch Game Rewind, etc etc. Don't do any video or photo editing so maybe I'm not the guy to ask about this.

There really isn't much I don't like about my MBP. I do wish it had a better graphics card, but besides that it's flawless IMHO. The 13" I have is light yet powerful enough to handle anything I throw at it. I also upgraded the memory to 8GB and installed a Solid State Drive and it's made my computing even faster.

Not sure what else to say.....lol

                      I said Mac Pro.

But thanks for the reply anyway. Why'd you buy a MBP? You're right, I'd call you a very light interwebz user. Unless you got an insane deal it seems like you could've saved an arm and a leg and bought a $500 laptop to do what you're doing on your Mac.

I'm making the plunge. I'm thinking of the 2.7GHz iMac. Seems like the 1TB drive is probably worth the upgrade.

Going to check with Best Buy this week and see what they've got.

From what I understand - if you get an iMac with Snow Leopard, you get the install CD with it, so you can at least fix it up if there's a problem, but if you get it with the Lion one, you get nothing. Does anyone know about this? And is Lion what everything comes with now, or will I probably still have to upgrade to if after I buy (for free)?

os lion has a built in drive utility

(hold command & R at start up)

But what happens if something happens where you can't reach it?

I'm the guy who likes to fully format his HDD and reinstall Windows 7 from scratch when it's starting to get problems. I don't like space being taken up on my drive to restore from.

So I did a bit of research today and it looks like I'll be waiting until early 2012 if I wait for the new MPs.

I'm just going to get the open-box quad off of amazon and put the 6-core in it.

All comes out to around $2500.

Anyone with a MBP 13" have any problems with it after the first year? My one year warranty is due to expire soon and I am wondering if I need to purchase the extended Apple warranty.
