Agreed. While I love HD-DVD, blu was the superior format due to being able to include lossless audio. I finally got around to putting together a sound system that takes advantage of the lossless audio.

I'm in the process of getting rid of all my favorite action movies on DVD, even the ones that I thought sounded amazing when I first bought it because once you listen to lossless audio it spoils you. I have Saving Private Ryan on DTS which I thought was the crown jewel of sound in my DVD collection and now the bass sounds muddy and the dynamic range is somewhat lacking after hearing movies like 300 and Iron Man on BR. Can't wait for the BR for SPR.

Some of my favorite BR audio experiences: Transformers, Band of Brothers, Iron Man, Death Race, Black Hawk Down, Mr and Mrs Smith.

This isn't the super duper cut yet though right? The one where they integrate the Black Freighter story into the main film?

HD-DVD has quite a few titles with Dolby TrueHD,so the format was capable of lossless audio.

True, but the number of titles is very few in comparison to blu ray. Disc size (30GB vs. 50GB) would have become a bigger issue in terms of lossless audio if the format war had continued.

Of course, only a small number of people have audio set-ups to take advantage of lossless codecs. For most, a $300 HTIB is sufficient.

I can't believe I forgot to preorder Dr. Strangelove. Ugh. Apparently Space Balls came out yesterday, as well.

I wish Criterion Collection movies weren't automatic $25 buys.

Friday the 13th pts 2 & 3 came out yesterday too.
