Full review here. I've only seen this movie once when it first came out on theatres, and thought it was ok. Might have to check this one out on Blu-Ray.
    It is stunning on Blu.

I was just at Best Buy, and noticed there's some way you can save $10 on Transformers on Blu-ray if you own the DVD. I think it's something by Paramount though, not Best Buy themselves.

It's probably the same deal is Kill Bill, and if so, it's not worth it. Basically, you buy the movie on Blu-Ray, and on DVD, and send in the UPC's, and the receipts. The dumb part is that you have to have bought the DVD within the last two or three months. I can't remember the whole thing, cause I threw away the paper from Kill Bill because I thought it was pretty ********.

Details Emerge About The Dark Knight's Audio and Extras
              Posted September 19, 2008 03:03 PM by J.C. Ribera

The PlanetaHD site from Spain is reporting the first detailed information about the audio and supplements to be included on Warner's 'The Dark Knight' Blu-ray Disc. The highly expected title will have a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack and will be issued in a two-disc edition.

In addition to the movie itself, the first disc will include the "Gotham Discovered: The Creation of a Scene" extra where Director Christopher Nolan and his collaborators unveil details on the planning of the movie, including stunt double work, how was filming in IMAX done, and information about the new Bat-suit, Bat-pod, etc.

The second disc will include the following documentaries: "Batman Technology: Gadgets and Tools" (in HD), "Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight" and "The World of Batman Seen Through Real Life Psychotherapy" (in HD), 6 clips from the Gotham Cable Premier's newscast: "Tonight in Gotham", plus art galleries on the Joker's letters, Conceptual Art, Posters, Production Stills, Trailers, and TV spots.

We'll keep you posted as more details come out.

I don't think WB has ever released a 7.1 soundtrack.

This isnt always the case, they had the same promotion for Chronicles of Narnia and I had owned the DVD from back when it first released and it was honored without a problem, not to mention I sent it in on the last day before the offer was set to expire. I would say at the very least look into it since it cant hurt.

Slightly off topic, but is anyone using a projector for their HD movie watching?

Also, anyone still have or buying HD-DVDs?

I still have my HD-DVDs (about 15) but I haven't picked up anymore and don't plan to. I want to pick up a SAL Blu-ray player as soon as one as good as the PS3 comes out and that is future proof.

Yep. I've stopped buying HD-DVDs but whenever I can pick up 2 HD-DVDs that I want for a Blu-ray that own but not in love with....I take that trade every time. Went from owning over 100 HD-DVDs to about a 60 red:40 blu split. I finally caved in to get a PS3 for blu ray.

Thanks for the head's up. I'll give it a try since I have it on both formats now, and if it works, cool. If not, I won't be shedding any tears over $10.

The Thing scores 4.0 out of 5.0 at Blu-Ray.com

The Thing is a fine example of horror cinema, one that not only manages to offer audiences a barrage of gruesome imagery, but one that also maintains a smart plot and a quick pace while indulging in plenty of psychological terror along the way. Expertly crafted, well acted, and a pleasure to watch, The Thing is not for all audiences, but for those capable of withstanding a series of bloody and oftentimes shocking special effects, the film offers a rich horror experience, one sure to stick with you long after the end of the film, and one that has solidified itself as a classic in the genre. Universal wasted little time bringing this film to Blu-ray, and finally owning and screening the film in Blu-ray high definition is most welcome. The film features a solid video and audio presentation, but it does lack in supplemental material quantity, but the quality of what is available is first-rate. Despite the lack of bonus materials, The Thing is a Blu-ray disc worth owning, and is an essential addition to any serious library. Highly recommended!

Iron Man Blu-Ray recalled; possibly delayed

The forums are lit up this morning with news that the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Iron Man' has been recalled. A few weeks back, some of those receiving review copies reported trouble playing the disc in their Blu-ray players. Apparently, there is an authoring problem with the disc, and distributors have been issued direction to send back all product.

According to those distributors, Paramount is doing everything possible to get enough replacement discs to retailers in time for its September 30th release date, but it may not be able to meet the demand. If Paramount can't get enough titles onto retail shelves, they may delay the title until October 7th.

Online retailers like Amazon are likely to ship first-come, first-serve, so make sure you have your pre-order in now if you haven't done so already.
